The Tailors' Thread: Fit Feedback and Alteration Suggestions
Generally speaking, a jacket will measure 2 inches larger than the stated size. For example, the pit to pit measurement on a size 38 should be 20 inches, doubling to 40. This extra 2 inches is called ease, it's so you can actually move in the jacket, or simply get it off and on.- Egdon Heath

Tell yourself whatever you want, but it looks bad. Worse is the button placement in relation to the vee that forms when your jacket is fully buttoned.
