First time having D'Yquem. Lived up to the hype. Aaand this was the official oldest wine I've ever had. No color left at all, it looked like a white wine. Tasted like old white Lopez de Heredia. Pretty crazy.- alexg

Portland, Oregon?
Cascade and The Commons are super close to each other and it's worth doing both. Both do smaller pours of their beers too, so you can try a bunch and not end up super drunk. You honestly can't go wrong with any of the beer around Portland though, even my hotel there was giving out a decent...- alexg

Try getting a Cremant, it's Champagne Method French sparkling from anywhere other than Champagne basically. I've been loving the Tissot Cremant du Jura recently. Also some Prosecco can be good. Some of the things I've had recently. The Clos des Ducs was super young but definitely had potential to go for years. Obviously the Giacosa was incredible, and Rhys is quickly becoming my favorite domestic producer of pinot and chardonnay.- alexg

This thread is making me homesick. Last time I visited NY I think I had 10 bacon egg and cheese sandwiches in a week. Has to be on a kaiser roll or it doesn't count, and the egg has to have a runny yolk. People outside of NY don't understand it.- alexg
