Which Rhys? I prefer their chardonnay to their pinot, but I also don’t generally drink California pinot. Never tried their Syrah, but I've heard great things. If you've never had them, they're worth trying. The owner was serious enough (and rich enough) that he was able to take soil samples and...

First time having D'Yquem. Lived up to the hype. Aaand this was the official oldest wine I've ever had. No color left at all, it looked like a white wine. Tasted like old white Lopez de Heredia. Pretty crazy.

Go to Vila Vinateca in Barcelona and talk to them, that's one of the best wine stores anywhere and they'll steer you in the right direction. For Cava, look for Recaredo, one of my favorite producers. My favorite wine bar in Barcelona is l'Anima del Vi. It's run by a French guy who imports...

    Portland, Oregon?

Cascade and The Commons are super close to each other and it's worth doing both. Both do smaller pours of their beers too, so you can try a bunch and not end up super drunk. You honestly can't go wrong with any of the beer around Portland though, even my hotel there was giving out a decent...

Is that Francois Villard on the bottom? Really cool wines, they're getting to Texas this week hopefully...

Try getting a Cremant, it's Champagne Method French sparkling from anywhere other than Champagne basically. I've been loving the Tissot Cremant du Jura recently. Also some Prosecco can be good. Look for a Col Fondo if you can find it. Ca dei Zago is pretty good. If you want something a little...

    Mexico City Recommendations?

Didn't see a thread for this. I'm going to be there in about a week, has anyone been there recently? I'm trying to get into Pujol and Quintonil hopefully. Definitely also want to go to Amaya, Limantour and Bósforo. I'm only going to be there for two days, is there anything else I can't miss...

Some of the things I've had recently. The Clos des Ducs was super young but definitely had potential to go for years. Obviously the Giacosa was incredible, and Rhys is quickly becoming my favorite domestic producer of pinot and chardonnay.

    The Official Beer Thread

Went to a bottle share tonight. Beer Appreciation incoming, but it solidifies why I hate beer nerds. A lot of good bottles, but at the end of the day I'd rather drink a pilsner than any of these. Obnoxious semi drunk commentary to follow... Pretty good but super boozy. Incredibly good. Ok this is...

    Reasons why New York Sucks

Over easy. Once I ordered one and saw the bodega putting the already overcooked eggs in the microwave. That should get someone sent to jail in my mind.

    Reasons why New York Sucks

This thread is making me homesick. Last time I visited NY I think I had 10 bacon egg and cheese sandwiches in a week. Has to be on a kaiser roll or it doesn't count, and the egg has to have a runny yolk. People outside of NY don't understand it.

Apparently I'm going to Oregon Pinot Camp this year. It's supposed to be incredible, I'm excited.
