Viberg Boots - Reviews, appreciation, news - share yours

According to Horween, CXL is finished with hand rubbed Aniline dyeing and then neatsfoot oil. I assume both Crust and Natural don't require aniline dyes so the only thing dofferent is neatsfoot oil. https://www.horween.com/blog/2010/03/23/chromexcel%C2%AE-2

What's the difference between Crust CXL and Natural CXL?

Just a small gripe. "North of Cordovan" is the common industry term to refer to horsehide strip and now it's "above". If it's anything like Horween's CXL strips, it will make for a great work boot but expect large creases. Horsefronts are much better.

Skip Horween explains a lot about horsebutt and shell on Ashland leather's channel. Tanneries will only sell horsebutts that have small shells because the same, expensive process is applied to all shells (critical steps: removing the strip, and 2 shavings). It's more profitable to sell it as...

This photo has terrible colour grading but it is golden tan/brown. I was there yesterday. The website images are a better representation of the colour.

    Meermin Mallorca Shoes

I previously purchased some Meermins on their sale so I'm pretty dialed into the 7.5 UK last. The boots fit great, they are a lot longer than 7.5 UK on the Hiro. Brannock 8.5C.

Waxed probably means it's been hot stuffed with waxes by a heat roller or drum. The fibre structure of leather leaves a lot of room for wax, it's hard to get a waxy feeling. The only leathers I find waxy to the touch are shell cordovan, W&C double stuff and Traditional Harness, Waxed flesh and...

My second and final pickup from the sample sale. 4 out of 5 horsebutt boots in my size slipped through the cracks on Saturday except for the Cuoio I wanted. I settled for the port horsebutt. They were $430 total via the WhatsApp group.

It's kind of weird not slashing prices and maybe selling them off in a future sample sale. At least they're not burning deadstock like many luxury brands.

The discount for Saturday was $50 for most styles. I would like to pick up some of the suede offerings if there are further discounts on Sunday.

Definitely the one engineer and unlined chukka boot that I don't have a picture of. There were wholecut boots, some sidezips and a bunch of Shinki HB (some had the infamous brogue cracking).

The proxy guy I found from Reddit charged only 20 USD + shipping. $690 for Amaretto shell lol. I went for the guy that got the least traction on the Reddit post. He was awesome, he spent a good hour taking photos for me. It should be 879 CAD, I lost 30 CAD from bad CAD to USD conversion or a...

There are boxes with 7s but the table is mostly 6 and 6.5. They'll show up during the weekend
