so far i'm really enjoying developing right hand for bass and focusing on fingerstyle .
i've abandoned the one-finger idea , I can see it being a natural step from upright bass but maybe not for me as a new bassist on an electric .
for now i'm focusing on developing the middle finger as the main quarter-note attack with the index filling in on the 'and' and as needed . looking around it seems like most players favor the index on the 'one' but it's making a lot of sense for me to flip that .
I'm also checking out a lot of other players . I think my all time fave bassists are jamerson and Eric Wilson of sublime .

Are you watching a lot of this guy?
I started playing recently as well, just after finding the exact arcane One Bass I’d been lusting after for years.

It’s a 25 year old recreation of a ‘73 jazz bass that is now vintage itself. (The color: a once subtle “vintage white” that is now legitimately yellowing.) Made of Japanese swamp ash — a tree that is only felled at night — in the factory known to interwebs detectives as the best in Japan.
I just love it. I was going to change out the pickguard to off white, but this one’s kind of got an ugly beauty.
