Death does not scare me all that much, I think dying alone when I am really old does.

The loss of gnashers, the gain of dentures and the need to eat a staple diet of porridge, soup and jelly.

Taking ten minutes to take a leak.

Becoming a member of a lawn bowls club.

Wearing long socks with shorts, fully believing it's acceptable. Zippered slippers. Cardigans. Flat caps. Socks with thongs. Yellow-stained Y-fronts. One day, diapers.

Wasting my day watching the gee-gees. Blowing the pittance of my pension on long-odds donkeys down the TAB.

Wearing my trousers up to my fourth chin, my stratospherically-high crutch being the only thing capable of supporting my ground-scraping scrotum.

Not being able to see ******* for the last ten years.

Bugger-all sphincter control. Farting loudly without warning in public. Not being able to appreciate it - ears packed-up years ago. Wait; was that a fart? It feels damp.

The effect of gravity and my inability to reach the top shelf.

Having a decrepid parrot as a best friend.

Finding Barbara Walters sexy.

Stinking of piss.

What I fear the most is not being able to enjoy the best in a woman, ( besides her personality ).

Every now and then I visit a private club where I enjoy beautiful females (erotic vacation club ) and I wonder what`s going to happen in 10, 15 years when I will be joining the viagra club.

Anyway, we gotta find someone special and settle, because one day it might be harder to even get up from bed. My advice, find love and stick to it

Health

I have realized that the more active you are the more you enjoy your older years. My Puerto Rican grandfather still goes out dancing at age 84 and is currently building his 3rd house by himself. He's a stubborn man and you can't tell him otherwise.

On the other side of the fence my "white" grandfather, who died 2 years ago, was inactive and over the years gained weight, had high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, and eventually was so immobile that he rarely left the house. He ended up in a nursing home and would make short trips home until they had to send him back again. He was taking over 30 pills every day of his life just to keep things in check. In the end, I had to see him in the nursing home refusing to eat or drink, basically giving into death. I will never forget the scared look in his eyes however and on the second to last day of his life he couldn't speak and you could see his lips white from dehydration. Was a visual I will never get out of my head. He died the next day with no one at his side as we were going to visit him that afternoon...

That is probably my greatest fear, a slow painful death and at the end no one you love by your side.

To combat this I am taking up hobbies now such as tennis, hiking, photography, basketball, salsa dancing etc that will keep me active even into my senior years and hopefully allow me to live a full, happy, and healthy life.

I fear not having achieved what I want to do in my life (quite a few things at this point) as well as losing my parents, as previously stated. I suppose that one must realize that such things are bound to happen, though, and thus it is best to make the remaining time as enjoyable and memorable as possible.
