To buy new or used - or how much of a price difference warrants one over the other?

To the mods: It's my first thread, so I am not entirely sure if I chose the correct one - please move it if it is not.

Hi all,

Long-time lurker here, looking to tap into the community's wisdom on the issue above.

I am looking to buy a few suits, and regularly ask myself when it's justified to go for new and when for (lightly) used suits.

I have a current example for which I'd love to hear some thoughts.

Option 1: EZ 15 MilMil 15, NWT - USD 660

Option 2: EZ 15 MilMil 15, Pre-Owned - 300 USD

I have attached some pics of the respective suits.

For background: Modern EZ cuts fit my shoulders and chest like a glove; the waist needs to be tucked in a bit.
Pants generally fit well but may need some work (depending on how leg day is going, haha).

The main factors I have thought about thus far have been (i) alterations (and any potential complications due to previous work,

e.g. surgeon cuffs), (ii) longevity/durability.

I feel like I am missing something, and I would super appreciate any thoughts you care to share! :)

Thanks!

bump - would love to hear your thoughts!
The key is to know your measurements and ensure the seller is listing those accurately. A good tailor can adjust most anything but within a range. Sleeve length is particularly important - I've found that they can be difficult to get done due to buttons esp if you need to shorten.

So, know your shoulders, chest, waist, sleeve and preferred overall length (coat) and waist, inseam, rise and cuff opening (pants). Match them up and you are probably looking at minimal (<$200) tailoring fees.
