I’m trying to get Oxfords that look good, of good quality and are comfortable. As much as I appreciated the slightly lesser price jump between a pair of EG and C&J, for me, EG lasts were quite constricting. I have quite wide feet and tried various EE sizes for EG and Lobb but ended up liking the look and comfort level of the Lobb shoes. I might try to get a secondhand pair? Is that a smart option?

My father used to say never buy another man’s shoes but I think the only way for me to get a pair of Lobb are this way?
EG has F width, and they are significantly... bigger all around comparatively speaking with other makers' wide width shoes.

English shoe widths are already wider in standard than are American, so their wide-wide stuff is, in fact, fairly roomy.

have worn C&J, JLP, EG, AS, G&G, and other brands. G&G fit me best so I have those the most. Have owned Numerous EG in the pat but the heels were too big for me. I own a couple of JLP and they fit okay but I have them more for variety. My C&J and others are more country/casual as I can’t justify spending G&G prices for shoes I’ll wear during a downpour.
Main thing for me is last fit so for me, that’s worth it.

I don't know what draw you to JL if it's the last then it kind is what it is (I do think 7000 and 8000 are really good looking dressy last without being overly pointy or chiseled). EG 82 and 888 or the more modern 890 are all good last but 82 is not 7000, if you like how one flows you will just like that one better.

though if you nail down on sizing I think vestiairecollective have 2nd hand JL for better px than eBay

as to whether if it will last any longer, if it's on leather sole then either topy them or get enough shoe to rotate is my realistic answer
