It needs some work. the collar is a little bit too big which i know i need to change. I also feel i need to make the sleeves shorter? How much shorter do you think is needed? Also i think my shoulder measurements are too big as well, again how much do you think i should go down? Anything else That you can see that I need to change?

note: has already been laundered 2x

Yes that is a good option, b/c I don't think it would be comfortable to raise the collar height in his case. But a more pronounced collar will definately balance his look better. Perhaps he can also choose a wider spread collar?

Just my personal bias talking, but I'm not a big fan of the box pleat. I tend to think side pleats look neater, and also are easier to iron. With your broad shoulders, I think you might find having no pleats a little restricting. I second the suggestion to go for longer points on the collar.

Add to the chest 1.5"
Shorten sleeves 1/2"
Cuff diameter - 1/4"
use a center palcket not a french front
side pleats not box pleat back.

Collar
use the lowest band height available.
add 1/4" tie space
collar points 1/4" longer

Carl (or anyone else),

How do you choose band height beyond personal preference? Does a higher band go with a longer, thinner neck and vice versa?

Collar band height should be determined by the length of your neck.
Larger men with shorter necks should go for low band height with a bit more tie space. Straighter points usually look best on larger men.

I have made two button collars for years. They are not for everyone.

Out of curiosity, why do you suggest a center placket over the french front? Is it a general preference or is it more specific to his body type?
