how tall are you? depending on how tall you are/proportioned you might need a higher rise to get the high rise effect. you should check the rise lengths on different brand’s offerings. Casatlantic looks like they have the longest(around 13in). A

For instance, S&M high rise are only mid rise on my frame…12in at size 35 waist…

Agreed. I no longer buy any OTR "high-rise" trousers from S&M because of this very fact. Their "high-rise" is really more like a mid-rise if you ask me, and I wear a 32...

i've never found s&m trousers to be particularly high rise either. for reference, i am 5'9" with a 29in inseam and 35" waist.

Honestly I like my Jcrew classic chinos I’ve bought recently. 100% cotton and an 11 to 11.5 inch rise on a size 30 (waist runs large. They measure about 32 inches in the waist on a size 30) with a 12.75-13 inch thigh. I agree they’re more a mid rise than true high rise, but for the price and 100% cotton; they work for me. Most brands are in this range now rise wise.

The most true “high rise” nowadays is Casatlantic, but I’m 5’8” and they look weird on me.

Put this together for all who worship at the altar of high-rise*, pleated, fabric-weighty chinos. (Both the side-adjuster and non side-adjuster believer is welcome. ;))
*Measurements for 32"/42cm waist. High-rise arbitrarily selected ~12". Rise omitted where not provided on vendor site. Prices in USD.)

Pleated w/ side adjusters
Pleated w/o side adjusters
