Harris Tweed jacket sizing

Hello, all. I have a jacket sizing question.

I seem to find myself between sizes these days. In my younger years, I typically wore a 42R jacket. At my "new normal" size, 44R is generally best for buttoning and comfort. I'm 5'10 and around 215. Stocky build with fairly thick limbs.

The 44R in this Harris Tweed jacket (see attached photos) fits relatively well, although maybe slightly large in the shoulders and mid-section. However, dropping down a size or two is tricky for me.

I'd love any feedback on the general fit as seen in the photos, and also curious about if anyone thinks tailoring would be beneficial.

Thanks in advance. Getting older is no fun. Lol

The main issue I see with that jacket is that the buttoning point is far too high for your body. It should be at your natural waist, which by my eye might be about 1” above the lower button. This very high buttoning point shortens the lapels and accentuates your midsection. Unfortunately the buttoning point can’t be altered.

Overall the fit of the jacket looks good. The shoulders and chest are well fitting and the sleeves need to be shortened a bit (no biggie). The length of the jacket looks a smidge too long, but the pictures don't say much of the overall proportions when it comes to length. As for the buttoning stance, it's a bit too high. All these observations normally stand out to people here on this forum. The overall details are very minute and will not bet an eye on normal people. Depending on the price paid, I would keep the jacket. The fabric looks really nice!

Thanks for the feedback. The only thing that really bothered me were the shoulder divots, although they’re very minor.
