I've tried dozens of places in New York and throughout NJ and no place compares to this place. I went recently with a date and split a garlic shrimp appetizer, 1 stuffed lobster entree and a pitcher of sangria.
What came was shocking: The shrimp appetizer was huge! There must have been 50 shrimps in there! Then two 1.5 lb lobsters came out and were placed in front of us. It was very stuffed with crabmeat and shrimp. I thought they made a mistake and figured we ordered two. No! That was one platter!! We also got about 6 full wine glasses out of the pitcher of sangria.
The food was all absolutely delicious and we could barely stop eating the warm portuguese bread. My stomach hurt from all the food we ate. My jaw dropped when the bill came - $60! That same meal would easily cost $150 in New York, probably more.
I've never seen a restaurant that gives as much food per dollar as this place. I should note that I've eaten at the Don Pepe's on 46 a couple of times and it doesn't compare.
The only other places I've eaten such good food is Nori's in Caldwell, NJ (Dragon Roll) and the Guacamole at Rosa Mexicana in NY. There's also an amazing Puerto Rican restaurant in the Bronx that I visit from time to time.
