Lawyerdad, I think you're the exception to the rule. I may have to look you up if I ever get caught in a malpractice suit in another few years. Any lawyer who can tell me just what a flaming Dr.Pepper tastes like, let alone concoct one, is beyond qualified to personally represent me.

Annick Goutal makes a fragrance, called Duel. It's supposed to contain absinthe.

I've had Absinth on a few occasions, and it was all the real deal, imported from France, Spain, or Eastern Europe at a cost of $80-$140 a bottle (I didn't pay for it).

The first time I was expecting a similar experience as is portrayed in the movies. I didn't get that. I got a very nice buzz off of a few ounces prepared with the cold water and sugar trick (which is neat) and then a straight up shot. It felt like a much calmer buzz than one would get with whiskey or beer, and also lights had a halo effect around them. It was like taking a hit of weed and having a few shots - definitely no visual effects as one would find with psilocybin or LSD.

I actually like the taste, and the 'ritual' associated with Absinth, but really I do not feel it is worth the money that it costs to import a bottle into the US. For $75 or so that you'd spend on a bottle, I'd rather just get a quality bottle of Scotch, a quality bottle of Gin, and a couple good 6-packs of microbrews and enjoy that with friends.
