Report from that thrift store:

Hermes -> Gone

Lanvin -> Still there, but now minus slacks and vest, someone must have swiped it. I left the jacket on the rack, had a tear I missed the last time.

Kiton jacket 1 -> I got it. Size is about 42, Tag says 54. Color is chestnut brown, cashmere. I take it back, it is not from 2005/6, I reckon it is at least 8 years old, so probably 2002/3 thereabouts.

Kiton jacket 2 -> Gone

Oxxford suits -> Gone, but there was a jacket there I swiped. Size 44 fits like 42. Made out of Escorial wool, feels like cashmere. Says Oxxford Crest on the tag (is it a different brand?), double vented and fits/styled Italian. About a size too small and 1-2" too short. Again, very beautiful and possibly better quality than Kiton (the handwork is clearly better than Kiton), but sadly many recognise Oxxford as being sub standard and a poor third choice behind American giants Hickey Freeman and Brooks Brothers.

Will post pics later, my wife must have pinched the iPhone.

From my limited knowledge, I rate Oxxford above Kiton and below Brioni in terms of sheer quality / workmanship. But I have known many that piss on Oxxford as being a 2nd or 3rd rate brand - probably due to being American rather than Italian. Interestingly those same core of people think Hickey or Brooks are OK. I cant figure it out, maybe I dont know my suits as well as them :lol:

I think it's more that Oxxford's cut and styling can sometimes leave something to be desired, but the quality is never in question.

I went to Madison, WI this weekend, and stopped in to see the local thrifts and consignment shops. Found a Comme des Garcons "shirt" shirt, and a J Lindeberg chambray snap button western medium with a 36" chest, passed on those two... and then I found this.

Did you kop? :laugh:

Ha, I did not. I've learned a lot from this forum so I thought you'd get a kick out of it if you hadn't seen it previously.

Back to chicago thrifts filled with mid tier, I found 3 Pal Zileri sport coat seperates... I think that one might be a legit SC but I think the other two are orphans, are they worth picking up? Size 40 for a DB chalk stripe 2x6, or is it 6x2(?), a tan pin stripe and a solid blue both in size 46.

I picked up two Sulka ties, I've never seen them around here but I've heard them talked about. Good/not so good? Crappy pic:

Also grabbed a pair of Brooks Brothers Italian made flats for the GF, if only I could find something of similar quality for myself shoewise out there.

@spoo - No I didn't, thought you'd get a kick out of it if somehow you hadn't seen it already.

Came back to Chicago and didn't find much today, 3 Pal Zileri SCs - 2 I think are ophans but 1 might not be, didn't pick em up. Is it worth it to? I did grab some Brooks Brothers loafer flats, made in Italy for the GF and these Sulka ties. I've heard them talked about here, any good?

oxxford crest styles a bit different, but same handwork that oxxford is known for. oxxford crest is generally slim fitting as expected.

Hello, master thrifters!,
On Sunday I caught these two SC's from Cambridge's Andover shop:

Since they don't fit me, I put the stuff for grab: here, and here with advertisements in what can only be called the Donald Trump school of advertising; for the readers of this thread—vous, hypocrites lecteurs, mes seblables, mes frères—I would offer 20% off, if anyone is interested. This has been the best find of my measly thrifting career!
