I like the shawl cardigans, as a matter of good general smart style, but they're not "Skinhead" if that's what you're going for.

I like them too, but never had the balls to wear one.

I don't like the 'double' layered knit wear look. That would cause me too many probs too, with me clashing colours. lol.

I apologise if this has been mentioned before ( I couldn't find anything on previous pages), But with regards to knitted polo shirts. What would be accepted as a suitable 'skinhead' knitted polo.

I like the look of the DNA groove ones. But I REALLY like the white polo one of the skinheads is wearing in the film '16 years of alcohol'. No idea of the brand tho.

Cheers Roy/Brownie.

I do like Smedleys. And perhaps 'less is more' with regards to detailing and versatility of the garment.

They do look simple/clean/sharp in the photo's which ticks all the boxes, and of good quality of course.

(I think I remeber seeing your photo on UKskinheads)

But I just can't help going a bit louder/less subtle most of the time. To my own detriment. (with collar length a vampire would be proud of) Ha ha.

John Smedley do come in louder colours, Stripes etc, but are expensive at around £130 for a long sleeve.

Welcome Dave.

I will probably get lambasted for this....but what the hell!

I always thought multi-layering and wearing Braces over Slipovers looked Pikey! I can remember Noddy Holder wearing the Braces like that-during Slades` "Skinhead" Period, but not seeing too many others like it.But I suppose somebody was wearing it that way, somewhere. The two Styles could be put down as attempts, by individuals, to break out of the rather rigid Dress Code that Skinheads had now adopted.

Wearing braces over jumpers was not widespread, I don't think it was a fashion statement either ?, it just happened, and no one took any notice,

At the very beginning Skinheads never had a warm coat, so it was the heavy Cardigan and layers, a teenager would rather freeze than wear something that was not In,
The first warm coat we wore was the Donkey jacket...and that was worn hanging around the Winter Streets, Sheepskins, Crombies came along later. :)

Actually I just got yesterday this BB BF knit polo at a charity sale (hence the x mark in the tag). Very similar to the Smedley you (and I) have but also has the grosgrain detail. Something that I personally appreciate. Again not skinhead (mod perhaps).

Another item I got last couple of weeks is this Sta-Prest (Slimcuts).
I believe it's a early 60's style as it has a more slim fit style (like the name suggest) and turn-ups (which comes with instructions of how to hem it).
The actual color is moss green and the material is somewhat light (unlike the early 70's models popular in US).
