Going by what M-o-M asked about the Revivalists-as seen by the Originals.I have seen some Peoples ideas about dress sense.Jeans that are definitely 70s being worn with wide turn-ups and DMs.That was not Skinhead, that was after. As Roy said with the Two Tone combinations-some I see as Circus Clown get-ups.Shoes that no self-respecting Skinhead would have been seen dead in.

Marks and Spencers do some very good Oxford Weave Shirts now.I wore one to UTJ,couple of months ago and Lastye said it look right. From a Connoissuer like Roy-that is a compliment!!!!:)

I've been reading this for awhile and i finaly decided to post something but i own a few pair of levis actikon slacks and they have sta prest across the label
Action Slacks are not the real deal as far as 60's "Sta-Prest" are concerned. Im not positive on this one, but I believe Levi's intro'ed the Action Slacks in the 70's (they sold action coats also). Basically sta-press finish to hold the crease, but they were 100% poly. -If this is correct, og skins did not wear these as they were not on the market at that time. These things were more like Levi's attempt to break into a dressier/more formal branded mens clothing market, which at that time Levi's didnt exactly have the rep for making high quality formal clothing. With that, I assume the answer is no.
...and i also have a couple of pair of sta prest with the jean like back pockets where they both worn or was it just one or the other?
Again, if talking literally, any original skin would wear a proper pair of sta-prest, lee-pressed (whatever) that were on the market at that time. If you are wondering if originals wore **** pockets or jeans style patch pockets, I imagine both, however I dont know what the preference was back then. This sort of reminds me of the question about late 60's front pocket preference (see skinhead with sta-prest) being frog mouth or ****. Basically I cant answer this because I am not from that era. Side question to TrojanBovverBoy: Are your sta-prest vintage, or are you sporting Levi's 306 or 307 reissues or something, -just curious?

Hey guys... just spent hours reading and enjoying this thread :) Very sharp bunch of blokes, I must say.

Got a question for ya.... what's the general consensus on a 'normal' person incorporating the style. I am a scooter girl (since my teens but only in 'the scene' since 2003) and incorporate Mod/Skin/Rude styles in to my overall look. I have a friend who said I could catch hell for it sometime from real skinheads. Personally, I think that's bullshit.

For instance a Suede, like the ones your 69er girls wore, is my hairstyle of choice. It is what looks best on me in my personal opinion. I may wear no name brand polo's or jeans that arent levi's because I'm fuckin' poor and can't afford the real deal. Besides, I am not a skinhead and don't want to be pidgeon-holed into gang-like mentality (I am American... and I am also 42 years old). I may also wear a mini shift with 20 hole Fluevogs or heels depending on my mood or maybe even a tight pencil skirt that hits just below the knee. I wear a black vintage MA-1 Alpha jacket that's covered in rally patches and also just scored a M-65 parka for cold weather riding. I think I look super cute most of the time, even tho I don't follow the 'rules'. What do you all think? Would one of you handsome guys ever even consider dating someone like me since I'm so one off? I kinda have a thing for skin/suede boys :)

Here are some pics of the action slacks

The only reason i was wondering was because i was looking at JTG and Warriors remakes of sta prest and they seemed closer to the sta prest action slackes then the jean back pocket ones

I've heard that story about 'Fairies Wear Boots' and hassle with skins. However in light of that... I saw a documentary about the making of the 'Paranoid' album on TV (I'm no metaller, far from it, but I don't mind a bit of 'classic rock'- early Zep, Purple etc. Prefer Yardbirds, Artwoods etc though
wink.gif
. ) The guitarist said that they had advertised for a singer in the paper and one day there is a knock at the door and a Skinhead was standing there. Said Skinhead was Ozzy Osborne!

Apparantly because of this they initially didn't want him to join and made him grow his hair! It's well known that Ozzy is a big Beatles fan but I've heard/read that prior to BS he was a Mod, went to Soul/Mod clubs etc. Therefore it's entirely plausible that in 68 when he auditioned for BS he would have had a hard mod/skin look.

I'm not sure when this was taken but it is ozzy

If I were 20 years younger and single, you bet!

Anyhow, seriously, wear what you think looks good on you and what makes you feel comfortable. Plenty of people borrow from various 'looks' and as long as the end product is easy on the eye, who's worried?

:)

Sta prest had proper pockets like trousers - not jean style pockets. I have always hated jeans style pockets on trousers and also Farah or jean type tabs on the outside of trousers.
