Posted this in a separate thread but thought I might get a bit more help in here: I need to buy a suit for my wedding! I'm located in Brisbane, Australia but my very small wedding will be in Paris in late August. Daytime ceremony then take photos around the city and small dinner with family at night. I've never thought about what I'd wear to my wedding and I don't know anything about what traditionally is worn (is it a tux? or a dinner suit?). Actually, that's wrong ... when i was 20 i thought i wanted to wear a dior homme tux but that's a bit ridiculous thinking about it now. I have plenty of business suits etc but they're all very businessy My future wife will be spending a reasonable amount on a wedding dress from a Brisbane fashion designer (http://www.paulhunt.com.au/) so I'd say she'll have a contemporary wedding dress. So basically I just want the following: - reasonably timeless but modern fit, you know... slimmish fit, not fashion slim but just well fitted as I am very skinny... about 130lbs and 5'10". rtw is not the greatest option for me in my experience. - looks good in photos - compliments bride's dress, lets her dress shine etc. - ideal, but not necessary - something I could wear again to other weddings or formal events? - reasonable price, $1-2k, not a baller

- travels well! - 2 month or less turnaround time. Don't really want to be worrying about it in August. Options off the top of my head: - Go to Cloakroom boutique in Brisbane - They do mtm, I think they did some tux's for a wedding as shown on this blogpost http://cloakroomsuite220.blogspot.co...-are-back.html & http://cloakroomsuite220.blogspot.co...o-classic.html A bit more skewed towards fashion then trad. - David Jones department store in Brisbane - Just get a otr dark suit ie z zegna and get it altered. - Stupid idea, buy something in Paris (I will probably land 3 days before the wedding)? - A suggestion from you guys

Don't know Brisbane that well, but a member here, neyus, has a mtm operation in Brisbane (he does shoes as well) - search back a few pages in this thread and there is a discussion.

I tell you I would not wait until Paris - you are bound to need some alterations and three days is not long enough to make sure it is right.

Bon voyage et bon chance!

Ruzzi,

If you are talking about a day time wedding, I would definately not suggest black tie. A nice mid grey suit would be great, or a morning suit. If night time, either a plain navy suit or black tie would be appropriate. I would not however go for formal dress unless all members of the groom's party were similarly attired.

If you need another suit, the Cloakroom might be the shot, although I am not a local.

Where is MJ Bale's outlet in Paddington? Is it just the flagship store in Woolhara, cos nothing is listed on their website.

Ruzzi - Cloakroom might be the go but I would get a really clear answer on the turnaround time. You do not want to be stressed out about it as it will be made offshore somewhere.

I have no advice or suggestions to give you, but I will say thanks for posting that cloakroom link.

Funnily enough, I would say in front of the Suncorp building (where I ended up going to get a pair topyd) is one of the worst places of all.

Did the MJ Bale sale on Ozsale just have the one suit or did they get pounded by the SF contingent? And why are they calling the one available grey pinstripe a PoW? What will I get if I buy it I wonder?
