I don't know about the particular pair of shoes referenced, but there does seem to be common misconception that non-1880 Loakes are all corrected grain and/or glued sole. This is not the case, there are many shoes in their other ranges that are full calf, goodyear welted and even sometimes made in England. No doubt the overall quality of the 1880 shoes is probably higher, but there are some very well constructed shoes in the Shoemaker and Designer ranges too.

Bit of a casual Friday at the office today. Was supposed to be 22 so I broke out the summer linens and OCBDs but I doubt the temp has gone past 19. the jacket is thrifted and quite odd. It has no chest pocket or boutonniere hole.

Thanks. They're from ASOS.. I'm usually a size 30 but went a size up. Apart from being slightly big in the waist they are a surprisingly good fit. Especially for $47.

^^ Asos isnt getting enough love here. Was looking at that pair of trousers myself actually, but don't know if they are lined or not so didn't jump on them. Went with a pair of copper coloured chinos for $19 shipped instead.

I've been looking at cufflinks for a while now, and I must say its very difficult to find high quality hand crafted cufflinks these days.
I'm not a big fan of swivel backs, and least of all the cheap mass produced stuff from the Far East, so when I saw that Diva
makes his cufflinks mostly in a fixed style I was pleasantly surprised ....and moved to buy these that you see.

This is true - I have two pairs from their 'comfort' range which are full calf. My first pair of Loakes were from the L1 range (shock horror) and were calf as well. Unfortunately, the Royal is described as 'polished' rather than 'calf' so I think it's corrected grain.

Ordered a pair of Asos house brand chino shorts once... they were horrible. Doesn't mean everything else that is Asos branded is crap too though.
Their shipping is much quicker now than it was two years ago as well. About a week to Aus usually.

Last Friday went to see my old classmate Billy Birmingham do his schtick at the Putney Bowlo in Sydney.
He held the audience captive for over an hour with stories imitations and anecdotes of his career and everyone was taking snaps of him on their i-phones.
Sometimes you forget that kids that were 16 when he stated are now in their 40s! Funny that.
A true Aussie legend.
