MQ puma sneakers, almost a year in my possession yet I have no desire to wear them....might just donate it to my brother like I did with my new desert boots. I jumped on the desert boot bandwagon only to realize I don't care much for the look on my feet. No more impulsive buys for me, especially sale items, they're the worse.

I have items that did not wear as well as I hoped, but no epic-fail-type expenses to date. It helps to budget and plan. I use excel to record my expenses & have many side worksheets with lists of things that are needed in different expense areas. This includes a list of planned clothing purchases.

Basically there is a big list of everything I'd like & where I could get it & a high-ball estimate for its cost. And then there is a smaller list of items taken from this big list in order & on a calendar (fall 08, winter 09, spring 09, etc.). And I generally buy as planned, unless a mad deal comes along on something & then I will buy and re-arrange.

On one hand, you have to be prepared to jump on the good deals when they come up. On the other hand, you can't buy willy-nilly. There is cost, and there is opportunity cost. I spend a lot of clothes, relative to the general population, but not a lot, relative to my income; this is how I indulge myself with no feelings of guilt.

Sorry if this is a buzzkill. I wish I could say that I just dropped $2K on a bad bespoke loud plaid heavyweight tweed three-piece western-style suit, just to make others feel better.

I have some items i don't really wear much. None that are super expensive. My NDC black leather laceups are my most expensive item at $210 but i need them for dressy fits for weddings and stuff so they're fine. I have those light grey linen obedient sons pants that i haven't worn because i need to get them hemmed and have the waist let out a bit. They were only like $150 and i was thinking of just selling them but i dunno. It seems like they were made for that blue BoO and brown suede ndcs of mine. Don't think i'll find similar pants for the same price ever. I know i'll regret letting them go as in the future they'd work with a lot of stuff since i'll be needing those kinds of clothes everyday come spring.

I haven't made any bad purchases for 2 years now. I have made some mistakes where I sold stuff that I later regretted though.

What's wrong with them? Short of the obnoxious branding they do, g star has some good stuff.

I bought a white Robert Talbott dress shirt off STP to see what they are like. RT has the best men's maternity line out there.

I have a pair of suede Bruno Magli loafers which are pretty awful. Got them on the cheap though.

i can't help out with the playing bit but trust me, your US-made Strat is of much better quality than my Mexican made one. so as far as pure investment goes, i think you made the better choice.

Long before I had any idea what qualified as a good shoe I purchased some Stacey Adams oxfords for a ridiculous price. I just pulled them out of the recess of my closet to get a good look at them again and the giant square toe is hard to miss. They reek of rubber and the leather looks and feels like the hard plastic you would find on a Happy Meal toy.

I bought ties when I first joined the forum over ebay that I will likely never wear again since they are too wide and don't fit with my style.

I have 1 pair of shoes that I don't wear often. I've worn em twice. They're onisuki tiger high tops. Was going to wear em with jeans but then I got a pair of white wings and horns... the onisuki tigers scrape the back of my foot due to my orthodics and cause blisters so I don't wear.

The gstar is a good brand and nothing really wrong with the jeans but I know now I can get any one of their made in india jeans for sale like 80 dollars or less.

Also the cut (which back at that time I thought was fabulous) now compared to my japanese jeans, it is a pretty generic cut which I have no fondness for and everytime I reach for a pair of jeans to wear I always reach for my better japanese denims.

When I first got came to this forum I made a couple of stupid purchases. Bought a couple ill-fitting blazers and shirts. Luckily I, think, have taken the mistakes in hand and don't make any stupid purchases anymore.
