Walking down Madison Avenue after visiting the Frick Vermeers I stumbled across the Silvano Lattanzi store. I know people say the Lattanzi shoes are much over-priced; I do not think most rational people would argue with this. To me Edward Green and John Lobb offer a many-fold value over Lattanzi but...when we distill everything down to dollars and cents we often miss just the simple joy of admiring an object for its beauty and the pleasure it gives to us, not how many City IIs we can have instead of one pair of Lattanzi...in any event I took some quick, albeit crude, pictures inside the store that I hope you will enjoy...

Very nice.

I agree that once the value point is made (and it is valid to note), it becomes dull.

They are nice but the only perceivable difference between the Lattanzis that you've pictured and, for instance, RTW EGs is that the leather antiquing is much more intriquing on the former. That is it.

Pictures like this are very deceiving (but we do appreciate them, woolymammoth), and hardly reveal much of the details. Once you had the shoes in your hands you might find many differences in fine detail, quality of leather, construction features, etc., that would be found only in almost fully-handmade shoes, that would account for at least some of the price difference. I don't think anyone would argue that, on a value-for-money basis, Lattanzi shoes measure up well, but that's not always the point, as woolymammoth has noted.

Woolymammoth, just what were the prices on these?

I would chose the style of shoes the maker feels they do best.
Not what to me appears like a anglified shoe.

If you go for a shoe from Lattanzi i would opt for a pair with more Italian flair ...
The Florentine and Bolognese makers have lasts and styles they EXCEL at.

I think all the pictured shoes are beautiful, and find it refreshing to see other options discussed than the regular makers. We don't see enough of other makers.

RTW approximately U.S. $3K and if I remember correctly custom $5K and maybe MTO $4K, please don't quote me on the bespoke and MTO prices but RTW is correct.

I wholeheartedly agree with this.

I appreciate the quality and level of hand work that goes into Lattanzi but struggle to find designs that are unique to the maker that I like. Some of his designs are truly horrible !

Here is a pair that I think are beautiful. I don't get the opportunity to wear them much as they are a quite out there in style for me.

Thanks for the pictures! I was disappointed when Barney's stopped carrying the line.
