The mouse is quite charming, among others:

And a Roo to You Too:

Kind of sad that the kangaroo's pouch is relegated to a crummy magazine and a remote. He would likely be happier with a silver flask and pipe.

The elephant's my favorite I think - I wonder how difficult it would be to commission one with real ivory for the tusks?

And how about a real turtle shell on the turtle?

I also like the small sheep: A rather silly sheep on a table:

I love these dry British descriptions:

The Galapagos Turtle is a marvellous piece, and a substantial piece of furniture. He is not easily overlooked.

Again handmade in British cowhide, the kangaroo does not contain an internal frame; it is designed to stand on its large and powerful rear legs and is firmly stuffed with woodwool to keep it upright.

So here he is, the rather handsome rhinoceros.

I think they sell them at Liberty in London, or at least I think that's where I've seen them. They seem very well made.

I believe Scully & Scully also has some.

I would get one if they weren't so pricey.

I don't get the leather animal thing. Years ago, when I worked at Cable Car Clothiers, I recall a large leather hippo that never sold. Does anyone really like these things enough to have one in the home?

Apparently some like them so much, they even have a Club and an Animal Hospital:

However, one does wonder, if there are sometimes more sordid interests at heart with these generally innocent animals.

Christ... who in their right mind would waste a good wedge of their money on this revolting, tasteless tat?

I dream of the day when I'll have a whole zoo of these along with a mustard yellow or brown mid-70s Mercedes with the original 8-track and car phone.

A friend of mine has those large, wooden giraffes in his apartment to accentuate the height of the ceilings. They are relegated to the corner, so they are not too ostentatious, but their mere existence in his apartment is (intentionally) on the ostentatious side.

LK, please comment!

I suppose it would depend on the decorative context of his apartment.

A judicious response--perhaps too judicious.
