Any idea if a good tailor could convert this CT peacoat...

...into a car coat similar to this...

...without making mess of it? I wouldn't want to change the collar -- just the front/buttons.

Are you saying making it shorter and changing from double-breasted to sing-breasted or just making it single-breasted?

Shortening may be possible, but I'd be nervous about changing to SB. I'm certain I've seen threads here or on AskAndy about going from double to single-breasted jackets. I'd look at those to figure out whether it's possible. I guess the bigger question is whether it's worth it, but that's between you, your tailor and your wallet. I also know tailors hate working with peacoats due to the thickness of the material.

Thanks Magoo. I was just hoping to go from double to singe-breasted (hold the jokes please).

If you have a well-cut peacoat, I'd leave it as is and buy a car coat. I think it's harder to find a nicely tailored pea coat than it is a car coat IMHO...
