Best suit deal ever seen, 42L

I don't think I've seen a deal like this on a suit in a looooong time; reminds me of the earlier days of ebay when I used to find great suits for 600-800 bucks.

size 42L RLPL suit, for $600. If you buy it (NOT my auction), you must pledge to have functional sleeve buttonholes added.

NICE! damn, that is one elegant suit.

If you do get functional button holes DO NOT have it done by Ralph Lauren. The make the most HORRID machine sewn button holes with HUGE gaudy stitching. I asked for and sewn, on my 4,300 St Andrews suit and when I got it they were awful and 2 of the 8 buttons were dark blue and not black. There were two noticeable fabric pulls from what appears to be wear they clamped the garment into something to so work. The pant legs were uneven by 1/4" and the vest was not taken in but I was charged for it. The level of workmanship was atrocious. For reference this was the Manhattan Polo Mansion.

But since this was from ebay, although still expensive, I dont know how much recourse I have on a replacment as I consider the button hole work ruined (yes I am that anal). I wonder if I can find the store code and say I purchased there at full retail, there are no markings on it at all.

great deal indeed. It reminds me of the RLPL Tux (St.A) I got last month from the RL orlando outlet for $600. Retailed for about $4-5k.

Great suit.

Regarding tailoring at a store, RL or any other, it is better to go to a tailor. Department stores or specialty stores tend to go "safe" with sleeves and pants that are too long or a body that is loose rather than fitted. A suit like this PLPL, can look amazing in the hands of an experienced tailor.

great looking suit, but it looks pretty small for a 42L in terms of jacket length and chest width - it seems more like a 41 semi-long.

Actually, this was twice as good a deal. Also a NWT Saint Andrews wool/cashmee blend...

They had three of those in three different sizes. I bought one, I think gdl203 bought one, and you bought the other? SF went 3 for 3 on this auction. I happen to be the only one who got lucky by not buying-it-now, apparently. (seriously, $150 shipped for a Stuart's Choice suit in charcoal?) To what do we owe this awesome success? Carefully-tuned eBay alerts?

^ No one else besides us looks for these names during ebay searches. Obviously, the Bosses, Armanis, etc., get all the attention. I hope it stays that way for years to come!

Gotta agree with the previous 2 posters. I don't know how eBay was like in its earlier days, but I've seen better deals recently. Hell, half of edmorel's offerings on this very forum are, at least, in the competition.
