I know this topic has come up in the past but haven't seen any recent posts about the topic. I'm looking to get a good budget iron and board preferably under $50. I wear mostly pinpoint oxfords at 100/20. I'll probably invest in a nicer set up in the future but can't right now. Thoughts?

My biggest problem with ironing boards is that most now have an integrated iron holder on the end, which is fine for chick clothes but makes it impossible to properly iron a man's shirt. (You need the square end open to do it right.) That stupid holder is always welded on. Hard to find the kind without iron holders in any price range these days since I guess few guys iron their own shirts or even know how. Your price range adds more challenge.

At that price go to a few shops and see what each is giving away or Google the subject, I doubt many people would set such a low budget.

Amazon is having a sale right now on some pretty good items:

Black & Decker D3030: Excellent iron and the one I would recommend to anyone who's not looking to blow hundreds of dollars. Just $34 right now on Amazon

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00X5ILD0K/

Laundry Solutions ironing board: perfectly good and sturdy, and a little more compact than other options

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IGRLH7O/

That puts you at $62. A little above your budget, but close.

If $50 is a hard budget, get an ironing mat. You can roll them up when not in use, but place them on a table to protect the surface from the iron. A little less convenient, but depending on your living situation, maybe also more space saving.

This one on Amazon is $12, which puts you at $46. I have no experience with it, but there are a ton of alternatives on Amazon if you search for "ironing mat."

Given the very low budget, seriously consider buying off of your local craigslist. Assuming you live somewhere with an active craigslist. Irons and ironing boards always seem to be listed there.
