I was looking around in a thrift store a few weeks ago and spotted a pair of LL Bean oxfords that had been made in the USA. They feature a leather upper and rubber lug sole, probably from the 1990s, and are in very nice shape. The shoe size and other numbers are listed inside on the side, similar to the way Allen Edmonds marks its shoes. I bought them ($9.00 and in my size, 11D) and they fit well and seem rugged.

Does anyone know anything about these shoes? What company made them? Allen Edmonds? Sebago? I'm impressed with the quality of this made in the USA shoe! Any info will be appreciated

It may be helpful if you posted a photo, but LL Bean once sold an oxford with a lugged sole that was produced for them by Chippewa

Several years back in the Bean Boots threat there was a photo of them. I remember e-mailing LL Bean and they didn't even recognize them, but Chippewa did.
