Out of curiosity, why didn't you just d/l the MP3s in the first place?

Jon.

Ipods will place FLAC, I believe, unless you just want a smaller file.

FLAC is loseless, right? So why not just convert back to WAV with a program like FLAC Fronted, than encode with LAME at V0, V1, etc.

jon., assuming that you are seeking to preserve sound quality, the best way would be to convert FLAC into WAV and then to MP3.

everyone has winamp, so i would say the easiest way to convert FLAC into WAV is as follows:

1. open up winamp
2. ctrl + k
3. under "plug-ins," select "output"
4. select "nullsoft disk writer plug-in"

from there, you'll want to select a directory/folder for winamp to dump the WAV file into.

after you have your WAV file, you can google for an MP3 converter. many music programs have this capability. you'll also want to google for a good MP3 encoder. LAME is a commonly recommended encoder.

WAV is lossless. MP3 is not. that's why it's important you find a good MP3 encoder. i also recommend encoding at the highest VBR, as opposed to the highest constant bitrate.

Adding seek tables takes 1-2 minutes in a command prompt. Not hard.
