So, I have three two feet stacks of clothing plus a half dozen coats and jackets that are in my current rotation. However, I find that I always gravitate to certain pieces, and that they always come from certain brands. Sometimes, I'll change in the middle of the day from something else, to something invariably from those brands.

It boils down to this:
Henleys and crewnecks from YMC, Rogan, and Wings+Horns (in reverse order of frequency)
Sweaters and hoodies from Wings+Horns/W+H/Spruce, and occasionally by Engineered Garments.
Outerwear by Engineered Garments (although I try to wear jet approved outerwear by Margiela at times)
Jeans by 5EP
Sneakers by Converse (and occasionally by Vans)

All the time. I have lots of other stuff, and always want to wear that stuff, but I am a firm believer that wearing things you are comfortable in is the most important part of being stylish, so this is it. These companies are just the best for me in these particular categories, for various reasons.

What are you guys like? Is anyone else like this?

In terms of total volume, I buy more clothing from H&M than anywhere else. This is mostly for basic pieces and maybe the odd sport jacket. H&M is also the place where most of my impulse buying takes place. Everything is just so damn cheap.

Other than that, I'm not really loyal to any specific brand. I do, however, really like APC sweaters, Fred Perry button ups, Filipa K outerwear, Paul Smith jackets, MJK hoodies, Allen Edmond shoes (I guess my fits won't be inspiring Rye any time soon. lol) and Nom de Guerre outerwear/sweaters (even though their stuff is probably a bit overpriced)

Why thank you Fok. You already know the brands I gravitate to but I'll list them. I'm usually a snob when it comes to this stuff because I like the style/ideology of certain designers. They are:

apc (except their knits)
margiela
branquinho
raf simons
pierre hardy
jil sander
patrik ervell
hm (i can't ever walk out of there empty handed)

Stuff I'd like to own but have yet to find pieces I have to have
golden goose
ysl
geller (I have only a hat)
dries
lanvin

i have those sand colored clarks...and since they're suede, there is very little you can do about them. but hey, more reason to buy a new pair, right?

i don't really have go-to brands, my closet is pretty diverse in terms of number of brands.

What don't you like about APC knits? I thought the black and white one they had last year was great (I bought it) and I'm also a fan of the military green version of this year's knit (I have yet to buy it)

I'd say its because he likes Branquinho, Raf, Margiela and Jil Sander, which are all known for their stellar knits.

I loved their old knits, most of the new ones just don't feel the same to me and that's when I discovered they were made in china (started around last year). The one beige lambswool that I happened to fall in love this fall turned out to be made elsewhere, kind of bizarre how that turned out. There was a black with white pattern shoulder button sweater I ******* loved last year but the biggest size it came in was a little small on me. Turned out my buddy who I helped move recently had that in one of his boxes, I was about to kill him for it. The quality was superb and when I checked the tag it was made in france, bizarre again.

*edit - also what my boy fuuma said. Owning the above knits has really spoiled me.

First step, get a suede brush or a nail brush and brush the chunks off
Second step, put the kettle on
Third step, steam and brush the suede until it's clean and all fluffy again. If it's still stained, buy a new pair.
Fourth step, stop acting so English that you puke on your shoes

Haha. Thanks for the tips. The fourth tip is probably the most helpful.

I'm poor.

Shirts and basics by Uniqlo
Most days I am practically dressed by uniqlo,(base, shirt, sweater) except I never buy their outerwear.
45rpm Jomons almost 99% of the time.
Frye boots. Nike stuff from my previous life when I don't care how I look.

Splurge stuff:
Ebay/Thrift blazers that I don't mind dropping $100 or so getting them to fit me,
CEGO shirts(soon)
3-4 different boot designs that I'll have Rider make me one day...

It occurs to me that with my ideal spending limit, my style would probably be similar to my grandfather's, flannel, Cardigans, tweed blazers and nice ankle boots. I wish I were cooler.

These are the two sweaters I was talking about. I'll have to check out some of the other brands you mentioned. I

jet: is the beige apc for current season you like the jacquard pullover?

I don't think I have enough stuff of everything to have go to brands; I use most of what I have. Though I think I have a brand conciousness when I look for a certain item. For instance, the hoodies I have are all w+h, picked up on sale without having much knowledge of the brand. They get all my love, so when I'm looking for similar items I tend to go for w+h first to see it there's something I like.

For jeans though, I have a bunch of great japanese brands (somet, skulls, sda, pbj) but still I always go for my APC NS. Something about them is just right.

And the most used item I've got is probably my grey light weight uniqlo zip up hoodie. Bought on a whim and so incredibly great for just pissing about in.
