I've looked around everywhere but I cannot find what I'm looking for. I want a pair of brown leather boots. They should have a 1" or 1.5" heel and have leather soles. I will be wearing them with jeans most of the time so I want something a bit more casual. I'd like something that maybe has a cap toe or something else to make them a bit more visually interesting. I want something that will look better and better with age.

Any suggestions?

That opens up lots of options

Have you looked at some British makers, such as Crockett and Jones, Trickers, and the usual? You could easily find a pair from one of them that you could dress down or up with.

Yeesh. Is that American dollars? Quality and durability stop long before $400. The extra $300 will be spent on whatever is printed on the insole.

For $600 you could get some brown cordovan Alden dress boots. They'll last a looooong time, and definitely look better with age. It's what I'd do (if I had a shoe budget

RM Williams will probably have what you want. Get them in whisky, maybe get a cuban heel if you want a higher heel but I think the regular one is 1" or so.

Thanks guys,

Do you think I could find these boots in Vancouver, BC? I'm not opposed to shopping online but I would rather at least try them on first.

Contact Ron Rider of R. Martegani. He is a member here. He was accpeting orders on boots in cordovan leather. You can make them the way you want. The price is around your budget.

For trying on RM Williams - get thee to a store called Australian Boot Company. They sell the regular line for the most part, but at least you will have something to compare to if you choose to order a more customized boot.

In Vancouver - 1964 West 4th Avenue.

Those Frye's look very nice too. Surprised noone mentioned the Indy boot for ruggedness.

+1

don't own a pair myself but if i was dropping that amount of cash for boots, i'd have to give these a try.

from www.alden-of-carmel.com:

the guy no longer lives in Carmel but has moved to Washington (state) so i'm wondering if you can contact him to see if you can try on a pair in person.

more Alden boots (and others) at:

He lives in the Seattle/Snohomish area if I remember correctly. I don't think he allows people to come visit just to try on shoes, though I could be wrong.
