Smoothy - last two are just awful. The New Era hat is a sure sign of hypebeast and/or tool. The T-shirt in #2 is awful, as is the popped jean jacket. First one would be fine if it wasn't for the bad wash on those jeans. Honeycombs like that just look wack.
PinkPantser - I like it. Jeans are a good fit. What are they? I get Stazy's objection, but I think if it was bigger we could see the difference between the solid grey v-neck and the pattern on the blazer better. But... are your hands in your pocket because those sleeves are way too long?
Fade to Black - Really enjoying your fits. That Yohji shirt is killer. Are those the black raw 21cms?

I've finally worked up the nerve to post a few shots. I'm attempting to get away from my t-shirt & jeans rut. The boots you'll see below are new, but everything else is older. The Nudies are my only pair of raw denim; I'm looking to pick up a second pair soon so suggestions are welcome.

I really like this, it doesn't look very relaxed but just regular. I wish I had access to his knits but barneys buys are horrible. The lanvins give it a nice tough of class. How would you describe the texture/feel of the pants?

SF makes me chuckle sometimes. So anybody wearing a new era fitted is automatically hype beast / tool? That's so stupid, but since fitted caps are not popular on SF nobody will say anything. It annoys me when people tell other people certain items are "wack", just because they "are" - or even better because a certain demographic wears the item. So....dumb

No, I actually don't understand the concept of the flat brimmed new era hat. I just do not get it. I have never seen it look good, and I'm not a snob, I've seen people pull off Audigier hats to my mind. I honestly think it looks really, really stupid and assume that anyone wearing it is doing so because they think it's just the "thing to do". I had other issues with some of the stuff he was trying, the fading on the upper thighs being one, most of the 2nd pic (shoes, necklace, tee, ostensibly popped collar) another.

smoothy504nyc-- he tries and it's who he is and for me it validates his current style that defines his lifestyle, culture etc. He's authentic and cool. I'm also a noob in posting here and I just started this year. I've been posting almost everyday. Sometimes it's a hit and sometimes it's a miss-- no big deal. It's all in the name of STYLE and how we like to interpret it.

^The thing is, I can see affliction tees and ed hardy rhinestone truckers and 7FAMs and R&Rs and Artful Dodger etc etc etc... every night at work (I work at a bar). Your fits and concepts are incredibly different and interesting, and the fact that some (most, even) work is impressive. There's a difference between a brand and a bunch of glitter and wearing a concept. I think you can communicate something with your style, but communicating with brand names... well, that's inauthentic by definition.

EDIT: This isn't to say I don't think branding and certain brands (ie those not smiled upon by the membership here) work, I'm not exclusionist on that point at all. But a lot of people my age wear things just to show off the brand, or to reproduce what other people are doing. And that can never be an authentic style, obviously.
