I ask because I am preparing to buy a half-canvassed wool suit (can't afford a fully-canvassed one), which means that the suit will obviously be partially fused. Over the course of my research, I have read that you should not have a suit dry-cleaned unless it absolutely needs it (due to a really funky smell or bad stain). I have also read that you should never steam a suit which is fused, since the steam will wreak havoc with the adhesive which is used to fuse the suit (causing it to then "bubble). I have also read that you should never iron/press a suit, since that can damage the fabric of the outer suit shell , while also potentially damaging/melting the adhesive used to fuse the suit. So, that basically rules out: dry cleaning (unless absolutely necessary), steaming and ironing...what else is there? How do you keep your suit clean and looking great/wrinkle-free in-between wears if you don't/can't do any of these things? A little help would be appreciated. Am I just supposed to brush it off for 30 seconds and then hang it up to let it "air out" for a day or two? Is that all you guys do in-between wears? Thanks.
