Ok for the Brown Shell Dundee
  • Dundee
  • Brown Shell
  • Tone on Tone stitching
  • Indy Lining and Insole
  • Natural/light brown split reverse welt
  • Natural/light brown transparent edge dressing
  • leather midsole
  • V Tread tap sole(mini lug tap or double JR ...no dainite)
This is the model I am looking to replicate So far initial interest but not considered confirmed @Kahuna75 @peppercorn78 @AndyC @sleepyinsanfran @FatTuesday @Stamper1924 @csmitty
If we can get to 11 then I'm 12. Particularly if it happens before the weekend! Otherwise I'll just buy the stock model to get the RDA discount. Would prefer light brown or chili welt, but let's see what others think! Light edge and sole choice are cool.

Agree they do and I like the light transparent brown edging but the chili welt seems to remove all the "pop" from the shoe for what I have in mind and I would like something different enough from the Brown shell Bayfield....hopefully we can pick up some more people then see what we can do final spec wise.

Lets keep the ideas coming!

I think I have narrowed down my MTO options on a Shaker Height platform to the below...only concern on the bourbon makeup will be that I probably would not wearly my bourbon daltons much at all....

Ok any improvements I can make to these? Inspiration boot pictures posted and yes I am aware they will not EG quality etc etc etc but for half the price I am ok with it.

Shaker Heights
Olive leather/Olive Tweed
antique Brass or black eyelets
Black flat welt
Chili or Medium brown edge dressing
Double sole
mini lug tap sole

Shaker Heights
Olive leather lower/Olive Suede uppers
Extra Burnishing
Antique Brass
Black welt wheeled fudged
Medium brown edge dressing
Double sole
mini lug tap sole

Shaker Heights
Bourbon lower/Pebble Grain black upper
Extra Burnishing on Toe
Black Eyelets/top 3 speedhooks
Black flat welt wheeled fudged
Midsole
Black edge dressing
Black Dainite sole

Can AE make shaker heights that look like that (mine are quite different)? Those are really cool. I dig both the olive and the pebble -- would these be in calf?

The Chili welt and light transparent brown edge dressing go really well with the brown

My brown shell Dundees rule me out from this build but however it ends up,
these Dundees are going to do rude things to some other item(s) in your closet.

My pair gets more positive comments than anything else in my closet. The perforation free shell material is beautiful stretched in one piece across the toe.

I saw the image above before having my brown pair recrafted...I couldn't convince myself to try the natural. It works, obviously but I went with medium brown.

Well it would still look exactly like the shaker except the upper panel leather would continue to the eyeket area. The patterns would remain the same.

Gotcha, that's a little sad - I got excited for a second there. :) So basically same style as Shaker Heights except with the side panels in those different example colors? Not quite as tempting as I already have a pair of brown SH.

Yes and eyelet area that makes a big difference..I did some rude photoshop work at home to give myself a better visual and I think it will look good. I love the mid panel dip to the sole.

The eagle county is a closer makeup to the eg but it cuts straight across with no dip.

Yeah that dip looks great, way better than the eagle county (which I'm personally not that big a fan of). Those EGs are lovely.

I'd be fine with the Portland on any of these leathers, Dublin or grain.

My preferences for suede are (in no particular order): snuff, chocolate, brogue, and olive.

So is there a consensus as to which material for a Portland MTO? Again, I vote for brown grain. Would the OP of the Portland idea like to take the lead on this one?

I think OP was @Kahuna75, but he's got his hand in like 10 other make ups :) . If he doesn't mind, I can take the lead on this.

I didn't know you were interested, but i have a PM between 4 others that are interested to get a consensus. Are you interested in a suede version? I think three of us are.

We are also awaiting confirmation from watchidiot that discontinued styles are still okay for GMTOS.

Finally got a hold of Allison today to finalize payment info. She said the order was submitted yesterday for the Townleys and Bayfields as well I believe. She said she was estimating 6 weeks but they've been well in the custom department and it could be as early as 4.

Also when I meet Paul this afternoon I asked about some lighter shell colors and he said now that supply has bounced back that they plan on doing a trunk show in a few major cities, Atlanta is one. Sounds like it would be with some Horween reps and they would all be SMU's with the fee possibly waived. My SA said he'd let me know more as they got more info on it. Either way great news. I think green and blue were even thrown out there by a SA. Need to start saving!
