Watchidiot,

I also wanted to thank you for organizing all of this. I was wondering...once the results are finally in, would you be open to sharing the email addresses with each specific group who intend to order a certain model in case we wanted to communicate any potential changes to the final makeup? I'd be happy to take the charge with the navy EC make-up model...less work for you in dealing with all of us.

There are also some some incomplete responses from the following gentlemen.
@movoblast
@mimo
@Count de Monet
@mdubs
@jw2571
@heldentenor
@frankmartin
@losrockets
@@weswu
@Schucknasty

In case you are still interested there is still some time to complete the submissions.

Took the survey. In case there is some issue with it, I'm in on the shell Townleys.

@watchidiot thanks for all your doing here, I am hoping it will lead to some great things now and down the road. :cheers: Several had mentioned they have Alden captoes coming in cigar so burgundy would be the better choice for shell EC. I already have the captoes (with speedhooks) but in #8 so will likely sit this one out. I consider my brown shell Townley's my Bayfield (with speedhooks, just saying :) ) "light". Love them both, the Townley is a great shoe and like the Bayfield should still be in production IMO. I think there are going to be some awesome shoes and boots coming out of this first GMTO!
Thanks cold iron. Wow those shell boots are amazing. That is exhibit A to refute anyone saying that AEs shell is inferior to Aldens. I'm inspired to get my shell Jeffersons this kind of wet shine.

Of course the commitment is based on the specs I put in the final make up, which is brass, so I am assuming it will not be a deal breaker if the final spec was kept as brass. That said, if the group really wants to go blind, then may I ask that the following folks be consulted.
@jch1
@GOP Shoe Guy
@buckingpony
@mrfixit

IMHO, I think antiqued brass would look better with the welt and edge color as well (chili and medium brown edge dressing) as it lends itself to the brown tones. Black eyelets and speedhooks on the other hand will not pick up on any other color on the shoe and will stand out. Of course blind is the sleekest, but is a pain in the backside (my navy EC has blind eyelets, no speedhooks). Ive not see a shoe with blind eyelets but with speedhooks. Just my 2 cents :)
I'm pretty flexible with the eyelets. I have MTO ECs with antiqued brass and 3 speed hooks (the top speedhook is sometime a little troublesome) and a pair of RL Illford by AE (same shoe and the kind of basis for my "dressier" ECs) that has speedhooks and a top eyelet. While I wouldn't be opposed to blind eyelets and no speedhooks, it does make getting the boot on/off a little more difficult.

In terms of color, the more I look at tjyoung's merlot make-up the more I really like it...

Can anyone comment on the question a page or so back about sizing? I'm 7.5EE on the 5 last and 8E on virtually everything else. How would one size the EC?

7.5EEE would be my suggestion

Thanks very much for the response. Before I commit, anyone else have an opinion? If the consensus is EE then I'm out. I won't have time to go get sized but willing to take the chance knowing that I could most likely flip them if needed.

I plan on sizing these from what I have read same as my mcneil on the 65 last. I am 12eee on 65 balmorals and 12 e on 65 blucher..13 e on dalton and most other lasts 13 d or e.

I am going to try and get sized also more propper.

if you are 8e in everything else, why not go with 8e? the 2 is maybe a little long and narrow but not enough to size down or out imo.

I wear a 15d in all 511 last shoes and boots.

The only pair of EC boots I own is also a 15d and fits well...I will order 3-4 pairs of these gmto EC in that same size.

Can anybody else with both Daltons and EC's comment on size and fit characteristics of each boot? I have Daltons in both calf and shell and find the looser fit in shell more accommodating to me.

I have the Carson city boots in 8.5d which is the same as the dalton and long branch. I also have the EC in 8.5d and 8e. The 8.5d fits me better. Ymmv.
