I've owned two pairs in the past but they weren't for me. They're nice looking and all, but I don't like to have to do a lot of maitenance. At least with calf and cordo you can buff out the deep scratches. With suede, I've ripped the hairs clean off. I'm kinda clumsy when I run up escalators and stuff.

Interesting; for me it's the suede pairs that are near-zero maintenance and teh calf ones that require work. With calf, you have to polish after every few wears or so; with suede, it's mere seconds with a suede brush once in a while and that's it!

I'll try to put something together for the contest, later this week. I wasn't able to enter the last couple of challenges, so it will be fun to play again.

I suppose I am less concerned about wear and tear on shoes. I have a lot of calf and cordovan in my rotation and I hardly ever shine them. I'm far more into a beat-up, matte, textured look for my feet. That obviously coincides with my lifestyle and profession, as well.

I guess I just never realized that a pair of suede shoes (loafers, balmorals, chukkas, chelseas, whatever) didn't make everyone's short list.

I also had a pair of suede Alden flexwelt chukkas. Sold them on B&S. But that was more an issue with the last. Hated, hated, hated, the shape of those. Too sleek. And I've decided I hate all chukkas because I just can't get over how they feel on my ankles. Feel very constricting.

I probably wouldn't have liked the rugged look of the beat up suede if I had kept them either.

To me, suede is something you have to baby, and protect it from getting effed up by clumsy scuffs or the rain/snow

There is so much blasphemy in here, I frankly don't know where to begin. Troubling times we find ourselves in, troubling times.

wow, when Alden is too sleek for you............ G&G must give you a stroke.

Sleek may have been the wrong word. Those shape of those flex chukkas just didn't please my eyes. Can't describe it in words

GG actually does kinda send me into cardiac arrest. The chisel toes stitchy and spoo wear on a regular basic are kinda whack to my personal tastes, but to each his own. they can pull it off :D
