NEED HELP WITH DRESS SHIRT SIZING (BIG NECK)

So I have a big neck...

My body fits a Small (14"- 14 1/2") but my neck is a Medium (15"- 15 1/2"). What i've just been doing is buying smalls and leaving the neck button undone and just pulling the tie tight, but i'm going to a formal event and don't want to do that.

should I buy a small and could a tailor re-adjust the buttons, or buy a medium and get the whole shirt re-sized?

Buy the shirt that fits your neck. You can have the body of the shirt taken in on the sides or darts added to the back. Either option is inexpensive and will make a world of difference. While you're at it, double check your sleeve length. You can always have sleeves shortened a bit as necessary.
