Does the "X" REALLY indicate that a casual / streetwear blazer is too small?

Or, rather, I am cautiously convincing myself that it doesn't, and that my sophomoric understanding of basic fashion principles has incorrectly led me to subscribe categorically to the idea that "X is bad." Please either add confidence to my (weak) conviction or argue against it.

Google image search "casual blazer," and dude's buttoned blazer forms an X. Granted, most of these guys look like twats, but it's so pervasive as to suggest that it's a deliberate fit rather than a widespread ignorance to fashion by fashion models.

because you are curious, I spent several weeks thinking an account I had on another forum was deleted, because the mods had changed my name from "bootypoopjuice" to "orangejuice" without telling me, and I couldn't log in.

obviously, I think the x is perfectly acceptable on a casual blazer. I thought you guys were supposed to have strong opinions. how you feel tho

a slight "x" is inevitable on any blazer that's at least somewhat fitted

but your examples are more than slight.

also, why do you write like a 19th century novelist

I like to wear my blazers/jackets such that there's a gentle pull (sometimes a little X, sometimes none depending on the cut). As long as there isn't a lot of visible stress on the button, and the lapels aren't bowing, I think it's an acceptable aggressively tailored look (if you have the body and the confidence to rock it). Do what looks best and feels comfortable to you; don't sweat it when someone tells you it's too tight.

Vents are a good indicator as to whether or not your jacket is too tight. I like to wear mine as slim as I can without the vents splaying open (to me that looks worse than the dreaded X).

the x doesn't indicate that the jacket is too small. all the wrinkling does. its called open quarters. the suits you posted have really open quarters. plenty of traditional suit styles have very open quarters
