Most Mabro stuff I've seen is decent, and I'd place them around other middle tier brands. blondys bay auctions sells many of their suits, pants, and jackets on ebay if you're interested in getting them cheap.

The one I've seen would send Canali packing ( in terms of construction ). As it should for $2500.

I have looked over Mabro a bunch @ Everard's in G'Town - a nice suit, but I have not been blown away by the cuts/fabrics chosen there. IIRC, Mabro is a canvassed suit but has fairly little handwork.

This is not a suit that makes you a different person for having worn it. Neither silhouette nor fabric has been that distinctive. It is a nice, middle-of-the-road Italian make, with a little bit more zest than Zegna.

When did Canali get better than Corneliani?

I tried one on once, briefly, quick impression was nice fabrics, (all 180s)
very light and comfortable. seemed up there with Canali or Corneliani.
This shop claimed the one style he carried was tweaked as a special order for his shop only, he had two or three fabric choices only. But the fabric was very nice.
I never went back for a second look.

A while back I compiled a list of suit manufacturers that were ranked according to SFers' opinions of quality. Corleniani and Canali were ranked equal in terms of construction. Since then I've bought jackets only of both makers. The fit and cut are both very similar and the main difference between the two is the Canali is made of a slightly heavier fabric.

IMHO the Canali is definitely a nicer jacket in terms of quality and feel. The Corneliani seems a little stiff in comparison...almost like one of my fused RLs.

I should say I own both and like both. I like the Canali shoulders more but I like the Corneliani fronts more. I've found the fabric of Corneliani to be better. Canali seems to have more handywork(probably machine) but I find their excesive pickstiching to be a little cheap looking. I have one Canali jacket that has pickstiching down the front but also on the shoulders and down the length of the sleeves. It seems a little overwrought.
