So I come with a question for my TWAT brothers. I am getting the itch again. It is an itch that is not overwhelming. I think I can resist it. But eventually, I know I will give in. So I have several watch-related goals. Of course, I want a Patek dress watch one day. I would like a Rolex one day. And I would like a Genta-designed watch at some point.
So what should I do. Go for the Rolex? Namely, the BLNR? Or save for an AP RO or Nautilus. Right now I am leaning towards the 15202, although the 5711 is ever-beckoning (I am leaning towards the RO a lot because it is the one AP that I would like to have, and I feel like the 15202 may have a short life--there are a WHOLE LOT of Pateks I want). Part of me says go for the RO when I am debt free, have no wife, children, car payment, etc., while another part of me says that it is kind of silly. Of course, it would take me some time to save (read, a year or so), but what say you! Go for the gold?
The way I see it, you don't have any duds in that group, WHATSOEVER, Nuke. All winners. And of course we are here to enable.
So if you are strictly prioritizing the order of purchase, I'd put the Rolex last
based on the fact you already have a Speedy. BLNR has to be considered strictly sporty, although somebody out there is wearing one with a suit, sure as I am typing this.
Both of the Genta watches are true "crossovers" IMO, quite versatile in their own ways....and especially since you've described your workplace as more casual....either the RO or Nautilus should be appropriate.
But I guess if you think about it, the Royal Oak ticks off two boxes there, since you don't really desire another AP....so yeah, probably get that one first. Royal Oak it is!
And don't wait around. Your future kids are hella-expensive LOL.
FWIW, after re-reading, I also interpret your words and subsequent post to mean that you might rather have a different/dressier Patek eventually.
