Got the call from AD, strap came in. Second time lucky and very pleased with my Alligator seminal dark brown

Whilst there I resisted overtures about the PPs I tried on before. The coping strategy involved deflecting conversation onto IWC and in particular the Boutique

Had a fun day and really pleased with my dark brown. I've dropped hints to Duchess about adding an antique tan/cherry colour strap to add to the Assolutamente.

Looks great, Cleav!

For some reason I tried dark brown straps with my cousin's black dial Patek a few weeks ago and I didn't think it worked.  Felt like only a black strap would really work, much like something seems off to me when I see black suits / non-black shoes pairings. Perhaps it's just my own biases (and I'm not afraid of color either)... maybe different colored straps work better with sportier black dial models...?

That would be my take.  Chronographs, pilot watches and Panerais (their own category!) look great in those clothes I think.  Some of my favourite objects of desire, e.g. Breguet Type XX, Omega Speedmaster Moonphase, or a modest Stowa Marine Original, all look great with a black dial on brown croc.

Conversely, I think you're right that a black dial dress watch needs a black strap.  That GO Senator Perpetual I was drooling over, for example: even with its big sporty size and action-packed dial, I couldn't see it on anything but black.

That strap looks terrific Cleav, as does the watch.

Black dialed PAMs look great on brown straps (and the Black Seal above is nice; even though I have a Luminor I think I've come to prefer the Radiomir case...).

As for a Speedy, I think it looks best on a black leather strap.

Gents, thanks for the kind comments. Much appreciated

Mimo, I too liked the Portuguese.

I couldn't really work out the boutique IWC! Why? 30k GBP? Don't get it

Oh Hell Cleav, HaHa.... I spent a day and a half trying to decipher that quote, wondering if I'd committed a sin by buying four watches, or by buying four cheap watches... or what... thinking really deep thoughts along the way about what it says of a man in these modern times to own four Seikos and what his future might hold... but no... "Four-Seikos" sounds kind of like "Forsaken"... Fantastic

And yeah, that new strap is sexy. Good Stuff Man.

Sorry to drop a a cloud on you for a couple of days. Not my intention man. shog[1].gif

In other news...pedestrian in the extreme but I thought I'd share: a night at the opera, new dinner jacket* for mimo, new dinner strap for mimo's ancient Omega.  Yeah, Mr Cheapskate strikes again - approximate cost $15, or alternatively expressed as: value of mimo's watch/(cost of Cleav's watch/cost of Cleav's new croc strap).  Sensible proportionality. :bigstar:

*(Also, now I can see why people almost always go for a black DJ - I've never had an off-white one before, and I can see it's going to need cleaning every damn time I wear it!)

Mimo, that so works, looking good dude!

Nice textures and colour contrasts there

You gotta have a great evening now, enjoy Mimo

Thank you my friend - actually I forgot to take pics so just did so on the way back in after a very pleasant evening at the opera and a fat meal afterwards.  Hence the hurried Blackberry shot on the way back in!  And my sleeve wasn't that grubby when I started...but it's worth it. :)  Couple more pics in WAYWRN, but not much better!

Cleav, loving that Rad. Looks very nice on you as well. I constantly vacillate between the Rad and Lum, I think at the end of the day I may prefer the Rad case. But ask me tomorrow, and who knows!

Anyways, wear it in good health. It looks great on that strap.
