The Watch Appreciation Thread (Reviews and Photos of Men's Timepieces by Rolex, Patek Philippe, Breitling, JLC etc...) - Page 826

This is a lame story but I'm really excited about it. My '52 Seamaster pictured below took an unfortunate blow after getting a little more drunk than I intended. I cracked the crystal and knocked the lume off one of the hands. That was like 5 months ago and I've neglected getting it fixed. So I was at my parents for a party and one of my father's friends, who was wearing a Patek, asked to see it. He said I'll get this fixed by my friend who repairs and deals vintage Omegas. Totally unexpected and awesome!

Sounds like your watch will be none the worse, your wallet perhaps.  I would make sure that he doesn't offer to polish the watch or otherwise change the old watch patina.  Same with fixing the lume.  You don't want one lume to be newish and the rest vintage.  If he's as good as your friend says, should be no problem.  Many years ago, I had an old Hamilton that my father wore in the war, even has his tag number on the back, fixed by a guy in California.  Redid the face, repaired in a vintage "style".  It came out great and is really beautiful!  No longer original, but looks 10 X better.  Then again, it's a heirloom, and not worth big bucks.

I forgot to add the part that he (my dad's friend) is refusing to accept money. He comes from old money, like I said he was wearing a PP 5296r and was very pleased to have someone to talk watches with. My dad said jokingly it was the only reason he came!

Jaeger%20Reverso%20015.jpg

The Jaeger my father received from my mother oh..20 years ago. Still a beautiful watch and looks brand new. Who knows, maybe it will get passed on.

That's the everlast classic and design still looks up-to-date (thanks JLC icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif).

Maybe too small for current watch trend but clearly recognizable from 10m.
