Hello,

I guess this is my first official post on this amazing forum! I've been reading tons on the forum for several months, so my infinite thanks to the forum members for their great insights.

In this vein I was hoping to get some members' advice on double monk strap shoes. I have admired this style for a long time and am now looking to pull the trigger on a pair but I cannot decide whether to get them in traditional brown leather (calfskin) or suede. I would love to be able to buy both but I can only really justify one pair at the moment.

I'd like to be able to wear them to work with a suit or (semi)casual outfit, winter and summer - I'm looking for a bit of versatility.

So which would you choose - classic brown leather or suede?

Thanks!

Welcome. It would be nice to have both in the rotation, but if you're going for the more versatile, I would say the brown leather double monks.

My first pair were black. Once I started wearing them, I wished I had bought brown instead, so bought a pair in brown and with no regrets. I agree with EriQ009. Go for the Brown first. Welcome to Styleforum xman74.

A black dubmunk would not be very versatile. I only own one pair of black shoes (captoes). I only wear them with suits in ultra conservative business dress settings.

The rest of my shoes shades of brown, tan, chestnut and burgundy.

Thanks very much for the input. I guess I knew it in my gut, but just needed some input (i.e. confirmation bias). So I pulled the trigger on a pair or brown AE Neumoras today. Love them already!

Thanks again.
