I have not, although if I recall correctly our respective countries' postal services took hella long the time I bought something from you, so I'm not super-concerned. I'll post something here when it arrives.
Glad to hear I wasn't forgotten about.
Today I received a peculiar package at work. The receptionist brought it into my office; clearly she had worked out that it was for me, but she still had a look of confusion well above that of the normal receptionist level of confusion (which is pretty high so getting above that is a rare accomplishment).
With the important parts blocked out, here is what I received:
un petit paquet du Canada
The items inside were all wrapped in this bizarre newspaper...
This one was ripped in a suspiciously specific way
First discovery was a letter opener!
I have a secretary for such things obviously but I have needed one for at home for quite awhile.
Plus it never hurts to have something sharp and pointy in an accessible place at one's desk.
Next up, a port glass! Shown here next to my coffee mug for perspective.
I fucking love port!
I don't have any right now but I shall have to get some.
I also think this would be an acceptable glass for Fernet Branca, and will use it for that as well.
Then I discovered a ziplock bag full of beans.
There is quite a lot of variety here so I'm pretty excited to see how this turns out.
Hopefully my wife will have some ideas of what we should cook along with it.
An ashtray! This is explained later...
Hand-made soap in the shape of a snowflake!
Obviously a nod to my Tahoe snowboarding trips. Very nice touch.
Smells fantastic too.
Lentils! I love lentils so this should be delicious as well.
Finally, here is a letter from Miran himself. I'm leaving parts of it out but I wanted to include his explanation of the items.
Finally some Miran content that won't get deleted from styleforum!
So let me take this opportunity to say thank you! (Especially since I don't have a reliable direct line of communication, this is the best way to ensure he sees it)
This stuff is pretty great, includes a couple of unique items very suited to my lifestyle and that will fit in great in my loft. The ashtray is especially cool, even though I probably won't use it for its original intended purpose. Plus the food should be delicious, and its origin may provide further hints as to Miran's true identity (as, obviously, do all the wrappings).
Anyway, this whole thing was a blast, and very entertaining, so we should definitely do it again next year.
Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.
