I have not, although if I recall correctly our respective countries' postal services took hella long the time I bought something from you, so I'm not super-concerned. I'll post something here when it arrives.

Glad to hear I wasn't forgotten about. redface.gif

spacepope: did you send anything? I haven't received anything....

GENTLEMEN,

Today I received a peculiar package at work. The receptionist brought it into my office; clearly she had worked out that it was for me, but she still had a look of confusion well above that of the normal receptionist level of confusion (which is pretty high so getting above that is a rare accomplishment).

With the important parts blocked out, here is what I received:

un petit paquet du Canada

The items inside were all wrapped in this bizarre newspaper...

This one was ripped in a suspiciously specific way

First discovery was a letter opener!

I have a secretary for such things obviously but I have needed one for at home for quite awhile.

Plus it never hurts to have something sharp and pointy in an accessible place at one's desk.

Next up, a port glass! Shown here next to my coffee mug for perspective.

I fucking love port!

I don't have any right now but I shall have to get some.

I also think this would be an acceptable glass for Fernet Branca, and will use it for that as well.

Then I discovered a ziplock bag full of beans.

There is quite a lot of variety here so I'm pretty excited to see how this turns out.

Hopefully my wife will have some ideas of what we should cook along with it.

An ashtray! This is explained later...

Hand-made soap in the shape of a snowflake!

Obviously a nod to my Tahoe snowboarding trips. Very nice touch.

Smells fantastic too.

Not sure.

Lentils! I love lentils so this should be delicious as well.

Finally, here is a letter from Miran himself. I'm leaving parts of it out but I wanted to include his explanation of the items.

Finally some Miran content that won't get deleted from styleforum!

So let me take this opportunity to say thank you! (Especially since I don't have a reliable direct line of communication, this is the best way to ensure he sees it)

This stuff is pretty great, includes a couple of unique items very suited to my lifestyle and that will fit in great in my loft. The ashtray is especially cool, even though I probably won't use it for its original intended purpose. Plus the food should be delicious, and its origin may provide further hints as to Miran's true identity (as, obviously, do all the wrappings).

Anyway, this whole thing was a blast, and very entertaining, so we should definitely do it again next year.

Still got nuffin', BTdubs. Don't suppose you've had the package returned to you at this point?

I've been out of town a bunch, but the USPS is usually kind enough to leave a note, especially if it's a return-to-sender situmacation.

Similar situation here.  To my partner, do you know if they sent it back to your parents house yet or not?

Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.

Spacepope actually spent more than $40 on getting my gift out to me (I am not his partner in this!!!)...I will repay the favour soon.

It has also been brought to my attention that I used the wrong fucking language!  These chicken scratches all look the same to me, and outside these kebab khanehs, it's like a true terrorist bazaar, with all choice of newspaper boxes...I picked the wrong one!!!  Jet, I am not Benesyed....EmptyM can confirm....
Congratulations to Lionheart Baker on an Argentine Pope.

Mr Moo...what the hell did you send?  A twinkie?

So if miran posts on styleforum, but he's banned before anyone reads it, did it really happen?

Hey man as I suspected they can't tell me anything.

They said 2 possibilities at this point:
Either it's being returned to me currently and that can take months (they said this is most likely) or it was heavily delayed while they processed it at the border and still on it's way. They'd had regular mail packages take 3-4 months.

If you don't end up receiving it, I'll send you something again- it won't have as high a value- but I'll send out another one with authentic Canadiana!
Or if I get the package back, I'll just mail it out again tracked.

Apparently their loss package rate is incredibly low as it's unlikely.

Sorry about that dude.

me and caseyfud had the same problem (i was the sender)
nobody was at home while the post guy tried to deliver and he didn't leave a note.
the package was stored for some time at the local post office.
2 and half months after i shipped it, it returned to my adress.

Sorry about that dude.

No probalo, broheim. Do you have a customs # by any chance? Sometimes it's (somewhat) trackable using that. If so, shoot me a PM and I can try to hunt it down on my end. If not, no worries and I'll assume it's somewhere in postal limbo.
