By no means are JCrew suits worth full price. If you can score one on a good discount, they are ok. Otherwise look at any other number of options.

Checkout Suitsupply. They have great fitting suits.

If you want the Ludlow worsted wool suit, I could get the suit for you at a steep discount.

You can get an Epaulet one for about $100 more...

It is pretty funny that people make new season threads for J. Crew as if it had runway shows or legitimate lookbooks.

they actually do and they have hired some pretty good stylists historically

I have one J Crew Ludlow suit (in Irish Linen) and one sport coat (in English Tweed) and I like the fit and look of the J Crew stuff. I did not pay full price for either. The Men's personal stylist at the J Crew store I use does allow me to use either my student discount or whatever promotion is happening on the J Crew suiting. With that said, I doubt i'd ever pay full-price for an item at J Crew. For the cost of a J Crew suit I can get a Brooks Brothers Select (made in Thailand) in a large variety of different fabrics. Using the BB corporate discount they are actually cheaper than J Crew and probably better made. The fabrics aren't as nice but the quality is nicer.

J Crew is stepping up their presence in the suiting department. All they need now is to offer some Made in USA suiting. :D

I'm curious why you think this?

A little background, I've always been VERY skeptical of any suits by J. Crew (and I'm still not sure I'd buy one) but the suits that they have now seem to be pretty good. Decent fabric, half canvassed, decent fit (slimmer fit), etc.

There's a suitsupply that recently moved to Philly and I need to check them out... I've heard they have decent stuff.

Got this jacket today. It's heavier than I thought but it'll be great in the late fall and winter.

I ended up returning it. I found the fabric to be too heavy and itchy. I've another tweed coat from Abraham Moon (The Colburn), and the fabric is much softer and drapes clean.

On the other hand the chambray ludlow shirt is nice!

I picked up a pair of Bedford wool pants today at a factory store at 40% off. They are Made in China though, so I'm not sure how durable they will be. Nice fit for me though. This was actually my first ever J Crew purchase.

I ended up returning mine today as well. I too found it to be too heavy and I just don't need something that heavy. I already have great Hickey Freeman tweed SC that gets lots of wear in the winter.

Need to get a few suits for work. Currently rotating a few Uniqlo suits, but I've found that J. Crew suits fit even better.

Is the $700 price tag worth it? I understand there are rarely any discount codes on suits.
I just bought a suit recently. No way I'd pay $700, or even half that, for one from J Crew.

This thread is pretty anachronistic. Why isn't there an official J Crew thread where we can post instead?
