Translated into €€€ this gives ???

I like having someone in the US/someone with a direct line to the vendors, but in my experience certain affiliates on this site) the markups tend to be ridiculous.

Last time I checked, MTO Aurum shoes start at €1100 (MTO Argentum starts at €650, I think?). Tack on an additional €300 for trial shoes to modify the fit and another €50 for metal toe taps.

Not sure what the upcharges are for boots, modifying a standard pattern, or for exotic leathers.

Those are not bad price at all.

That said, what would be a fair mark up from the current price in order to take some of the risk out of the process like sizing and sending the money? Pictures and last descriptions? Leather cataloges? 10%?

3% processing 5% forex fee is the norm. 10% is fair if not carrying inventory. Could probably negotiate with Meccariello for affiliate/referral fees so it could be economically viable for your friend.

That was the thought.

On top of that there is probably enough US volume to consolidate shipping and then redirect in the US.

That might get hit by ~8% tarriff for importing leather shoes. No one likes to see that bill but it's inevitable for businesses.

Separate retail order shipped by regular posts don't usually get hit.
