Looking at this year's Phineas Cole Collection got me thinking...

You have an important business meeting. You are limited to two extreme choices:

1) A highest-quality, expertly constructed though over-the-top outfit by Phineas Cole

OR

2) A cheaply-made, poor-fitting though muted outfit by Men's Wearhouse

PHINEAS:
700

MENS WEARHOUSE
700

god both are bad, but I'd have to mens warehouse

So does this prove my response when I see the Phineas Cole stuff "Holy ****, who would wear that?!?!?"

I'm kinda with Quad, neither one says important business meeting. Suit #1 --trendy -- for the young set, at an afternoon party ( loose the shirt ). #2-- loose the tie and shirt.
Important meeting, to me --
Suit-- navy - gray ( med to dark)
Shirt -- white - blue - white w/ blue --- conservative
Tie -- conservative
If the meeting is with boss or board, as in someone that can affect your future and wallet, don't try to be in a position where you're outdressing them.

In business, it helps to be middle of the road. You might not impress anyone but you don't stand the chance of offending anyone either.

If I saw a guy with that Phineas Cole suit in a business meeting, he would not be taken seriously.

i don't think people are getting it.
you have to choose the lesser of two evils

Exactly...and I am guessing the sentiment is going to be "I'd sooner wear a Men's Wearhouse suit before I was caught dead wearing Phineas Cole!"

There's no way that I'd wear the first suit to a business meeting. I don't care what anyone here says, jokes aside, the majority of SF users wouldn't wear that suit to a business meeting. I'd hate to spend my money on a TMW suit, but I could have it tailored within about 30 minutes and look at least decent for a 2 hour meeting.

Oh, come on, the Phineas Cole suit is beautiful, the fabric looks fantastic, the finishing fine, and I'd wear it in a second. Sure the combination with the shirt and tie is horrible. But I can't believe this is even a competition. You'd all rather have a brown something made of the worst fabrics, badly finished and that most likely fits like a sack if you're lucky? Just because of what - that it doesn't draw any attention to you at all?

Well, this is one occasion when I am so pleased that I don't have to work anywhere where anyone cares, even if the money might be better...

I'll have to hold my nose and vote for the MW offering. At least it falls within the limits of conservative business dress. The other goes beyond dandyism into the realm of outright foppery!

Compared to that other monstrosity? Yes.
