That's ashame it's one of my favorite Japanese cars, as well as the 240's. I wouldn't mind finding one in good condition, to use as a 3rd car.

Red 1987 Honda CRX. Serious chick magnet in high school. My mother was good enough to let me drive it while she took the bus to work. Was gifted to me for good when I graduated college. I drove it until 2000 when it was getting too expensive to keep up. 13 years and 180k+ miles on it. Not too bad.

Now it's a Honda Civic 4 door. Not exciting, but reliable and it gets me places. It looks pretty good too. About to be sold because my wife has one too and we don't need two.

Someone mocked it earlier, but the next vehicle will be a Honda Element hybrid, assuming they make one which I've heard they will.

I think my dad's first Mustang ('71, maybe?) ran for the same duration of time.

2005 Daihatsu Terios. In 2005. Small car, easy to drive, wasn't overly expensive and has 4WD capabilities for my families holiday house, if I ever get bogged.

72 MBG bought in 82 for $500.
We pulled it home with a chain from
behind a guy's house. Got it running that
day, all it needed was a battery and
clean up. I mean, to get it on the road.
It was a rusted out junk pile and remained
so until I returned from the army and
bought a new 87 CRX si, black.

Which I drive to this day but its silver now.

My father's '75/6 Toyota Corolla mini-wagon. Had 15 years and around 80K miles on it. Ran for another four years and 50K miles or so of hard use, then literally shot one of the spark plugs out of the engine. That 2TC engine was sweet: 70-odd horsepower (IIRC) and purely mechanical. We could do everything we needed to keep it running.

My first car was a 1996 Ford Taurus SHO. It was Ebony satin on tan leather. A total sleeper, the engine was a 3.4L 32V DOHC V8 with a cold air intake and high flow exhaust. The car looked pretty much like any other taurus but it sounded better a small block Chevy and could outrun most of them

Hey, pretty cool! My first car (bought 3 years ago, had it shipped up from Cali) was a 1980 Scirocco 5 speed. 72k on the clock. Still have her today...bone stock, completely restored. Since I live in the rust-belt, she's only driven on nice summer days, though. A mk1 Scirocco ('75-'81) was my dream car since I was like 3!

The original car, the sacred rite of hand-me-down from dad:

19861ee2.jpg

She was red, and I got her up above 140mph once... Sadly a deer took her life less than three blocks from my house.

Next, the first car I purchased myself (but in silver):

This one got its entire front end seperated at the weld lines by a SUV in an intersection at UW

then one REALLY similar to this:
