Things that are pissing you off. - Page 734

So I got a call a couple days ago that the HR representative that was checking my resources wasn't able to contact two of my references. I contact both people, one works from home during the summer and the other was in a meeting (the HR rep having called an hour or so before me). I then provide--via email-- the cell phone of the one contact, inform the HR rep of the status of the second contact, and I proceed to give two additional sources.

I get no response from HR.

I then follow-up today to check and make sure that she was able to get a hold of my references and has all the information she needs, but I still have yet to hear from her.

Crappy HR, or did I not get the job? Arrrgh... I'm sure it's nothing, but I hate waiting the full two weeks to find out if I got the job.

My boss uses the word "phenomenal" at least 20 times a day. I'm not exaggerating.

That's pretty phenomenal of him.

3 separate incidents of atrocious customer service, from the petty (subway dude taking forever to do his job, screwing up my breakfast 3 times over and then giving me the wrong amount of change back as I noticed later) to the irritating (building manager giving me the "it'll be done by next week" on work needing to be done to my unit for the 3rd week in a row) to the absolutely ridiculous (there is no possible means of contacting the future shop in NE calgary without actually going out to it. The national customer service couldn't even get through to them and couldn't tell me where my laptop is because the guy at the store didn't give me all the necessary info. It was supposed to have been fixed a week ago).

Insane. I also just got on the wrong train. It's almost a relief to be pissed off by something that's actually my fault after all that crap.

On the bright side since you're from the US, they can't freeze your plate tag or Drivers License renewal. I avoid the 407 like the plague. Toll roads are wet dream for certain members of the Toronto Political and chattering classes (Progressives which in code is big L Liberal for the Americans on this thread) and would screw the city's economy if it ever saw the light of day. Highway 407 which you took is privately run consortium and is highway robbery (pardon the pun) compared to say the New York Thruway from Buffalo to Albany (way cheaper).

From my point of view ... if they are being honest ... they should just answer the phone and say, "Hello, how many I not help you today."

LOL. Apple's website said that an "experienced customer service representative" would call me within five minutes about my macbook's broken power adapter. Lo and behold, I get a call from Apple one minute later - except it's not an tech support person, it's a fucking automated message telling me to hold. I wait fifteen minutes and finally someone comes on the line. I tell her my situation, how my macbook is still under warranty, and ask her to send her a replacement part. She says she must transfer me to another department. After spending more time on hold, a guy answers the phone and I explain the situation again. He agrees to send a replacement part, but says I must send my broken adapter in to Apple, and if they don't deem it completely broken I'll be charged almost $100 for a replacement charger on a computer that only cost $800 to begin with. Seriously, I've gotten better tech support from freaking Hewlett-Packard.

^And yet, RubeBabeIII's 2-year-old MacBook has developed cracks in its case, and Apple is replacing the entire shell for free. At a local service center.

It's saturday night and I'm already home again half an hour before midnight. There are absolutely no parties with music I like at the clubs in the region, I already was to my favorit bar in the afternoon and I can't have more than one drink anyway cuz I'm driving. I've finished my book yesterday and didn't find anything new I want to read yet.

I've picked up two Blurays from the movie rental but I'm not in the mood to watch them. Let's hope some SF guys are up for a round of Alien Swarm later.
