You hit the nail right on the head.

You're a big time professor now. You can't be rolling around with furry pink handcuffs hanging from your rear view mirror and a pair of these plastered to the rear window

I am not allowed to pick up job candidates or invited speakers at the airport or drive them to dinner because apparently my car would present the department in a bad light. I learned this today.

I'd honestly rather be driven somewhere in a well-maintained but older car than a flashy new one. It demonstrates personal qualities I appreciate more.

Hey I got one:

How about getting a divorce, paying that 'female' off and then seeing her in a nice new car. Happened earlier. Life is good when its not your money.

most guys i know that got a divorce would say it was ******* worth it

It was not a BMW. I'd have Molotov'd it :satisfied:

Definitely worth it Hroi, But don't let them pretend it doesn't piss them off to see their hard earned cash trundle past.

Was planning on driving from NYC to Toronto today. Now have to wait until tomorrow so the idiots will have a chance to get the OMG SNOW! out of their systems.

**** me... "stock up on medicine and food!" It's New York, there's a Duane Reade and deli on every corner.

Seriously.

This woman that sits next to me at work was freaking out yesterday. Kept saying "Im scared!". Seriously? It's a few inches of snow. Chill.

It's supposed to be in the 40s next week, it's not like Manhattan is going to be cut off from the rest of the world, Dark Knight Rises style.

I'm sure it is because they are a large company and have tried to move to some preexisting HR software that integrates with all of their existing Oracle/SAP/whatever stuff. It is easy to make a flashy careers page when you have <150 employees and no infrastructure to tie it in to.

It's still ******...but now you know why and who to blame.

Yep. Most of those job listing functions are outsourced too, to one or two companies.

Really, they have no incentive to make it not ******.

I'm sitting in my place looking out the window. I have an AWD with new tires, cigars and I'm Canadian. I'll probably leave by 9.

the new office and its amenities are great: better coffee, more light and best of all normal human beings for coworkers.

The only thing that really is annoying the hell out of me is the airconditioning here. Even though its winter, its way to warm in here. Combine that with dryish air and its one sleep inducing environment. Seriously, cant they just put the thermostat 2 degrees lower?

My office is always the opposite of what it is like outside. It is a temperature pendulum.
