I agree with this and in my book a $100 is a good way to test the friendship.

Money is important to some of us, more so if we work hard for it and don't have much instead.

It is a big deal because no one wants to be used, and some people will use you if you let them.

Didn't even try. I did however end up recovering the data I'd preciously lost, so from this point forward it's all good. Plus, it will so completely befuddle the rest of the family that I see big entertainment value in leaving it alone.

...Not really upsetting me but perhaps a little. Instead of putting the bat in dry dock, we're re-siding the house. Tried to get an order of siding delivered this weekend, Monday is the earliest I can get. Picked up a nail gun on the very very cheap on CL because it was jammed with two nails (fixed it in front of the guy) BUT it's missing a part, and no one's open with that part - and because it's safety-related, not going there. Ah well.

Kinda disruptive but has gotten better: #2 dog was looking and sounding really bad last night and this morning - I figured today was his last - but he's slowly perked up throughout the day, back to his normal 14-years-old perky self.

Thomas, glad the dog pulled through for another day. I hope it has many more.

Agreed.

Money and friendship is a very dangerous mix..

You don't lend money to friends and family. You either give it to them or tell them you can't help. It's as simple as that.

yeah, my sister and my mother are both preparing to come calling on me - my mother has dried up all her money and now needs about 500 bucks a month from me to keep smoking, and my sister is going to be unemployed and homeless as of 1 July, and I am guessing that the expectation is that I will bail her out. '

my mom I can understand, she has done her best and really hasn't squandered her money, she's had a hard life.

my sister is a lazy good for nothing **** who can't be bothered, neither her nor her bum husband, to make a living. but, hey, family is family.

I was homeless before, it was kinda fun. I'd do it again.
