The breakout panel discussion with John Huntsman I really wanted to attend at a conference I'm going to is happening at the same time as the panel I'm speaking in. So I don't get to see him. :(

I'm sorry you are successful.

So all the chicks here are otherwise very attractive except... No booty or thighs on any of them. Don't nobody like bones but a dog. smh.

I believe there was some kind of class action settlement where groupon expiration dates were deemed illegal in some fashion and therefore groupon must honor expired ones.

I think it was actually living social.

They have been ruled to fall under gift card laws.
The "promotional" value can expire, but the actual value you paid still holds. So if you buy a $20 groupon to a restaurant for $10 and it expires, you can still use it at the restaurant for $10.

+1 to what otc said. You can't get the discount after it expires, but your money doesn't just vanish. And, yes, this applies to Groupon.

I'm pissed that I'm the only one who knows how to cook in my house (hint hint... my wife doesn't know how to cook anything). We'll be both bushed and she'll be looking at me to start cooking while I want to just go out or get take out... I can still do the manly ****: hang a door, change a flat tire, basic repairs around the house... but women these days are almost proud of their non cooking aptitude - its not something to be proud of.

You need to have M&M teach her to look up.

Dude, you just described my home life. What really pisses me off is when she whines that we don't have everything to eat, but what she really means is that we don't have anything that is immediately ready to be eaten. It's like, "come on, couldn't you just spend five minutes to put something together and maybe, just maybe, you could make some extra and we could eat together.
We gotta stand together, brother! :fistbump:

there's a weird reverse logic/laziness that happens living in a bustling city - since we live in brooklyn there are hundreds of awesome take out places with-in 5 blocks of our house - but it seems harder to pick up the phone, make and order, and walk/bike/drive to get it.

ITT: dudes prove why you shouldn't get married.

complaining about your wife is one of the joys of being married. plus she makes a lot more money than I do (and probably always will).. its a compromise... more material stuff but less domesticated wifely talents.

problem with that. it's rather impossible to learn cooking later, if you haven't been taught the basics in your youth. you're in a misery, sorry.

I understand there is an art to cooking good food, but basic short order stuff (like american breakfast fair bacon, eggs, pancakes, ect) can be learned so easily.

I learned how to cook our basic native southeast asian dishes by going on youtube/google-fu-ing how to do it. Its so much easier to learn how to cook now because you can literally just youtube how to cook something and it'll spoon feed you how to do it.

Hell I learned how to build a 20 speed bicycle (even the cutting the cables, installing the brakes and derailleurs, tuning it, ect ect) by looking it up on youtube. Sure I bought all the tools - but thats just like buying all the ingredients for a meal.

There's no excuse these days when there free online guides with videos that will teach you how to do things just like a paid instructional course.

A (probably former) friend of mine loaned me his extra car for a couple of weeks while I was getting some work done on my car. I went through the toll booths a few times (you can't pay tolls with cash here) and after I gave him the car back I told him to send me the toll bills and I would pay them. I never heard anything else from him and didn't chase him down over it. So then last week he sends me an email saying that my tolls added up to a couple hundred dollars. Basically he ignored these bills for a couple of months until they tacked on a bunch of extra fees, and now he wants me to pay for it. :fu:
The fact is, I want to pay for the actual tolls, which are probably 25 bucks, but I don't feel like giving him a dime at this point because he's being such a dick about this. Which sucks because he was really nice to let me borrow his car in the first place.

thats bullshit. your friend is being a dickwad. pay the exact value of the tolls, and tell him to deal with the late fees his own self. not your fault he is a fucktard.

sorry douggie. :(

but good luck on your panel.

Are you blackmailing them???

No. I just make an effort to get to office hours, get to know them, take an interest in their research/books/articles etc. One or two I occasionally bring a Jamaican beef patty or something on days I know they're super busy and don't have time to get lunch, or the odd cigar. I stay in contact with them after I'm done taking their classes, and send them articles I come across related to their areas of expertise and/or interest. Its not magic. They're just (smart) people, no reason you can't be friends with them.

Agreed. Complaining about one's wife is a time honored tradition, and, I find, an excellent use for SF.
Besides:
Who really wants to hear about the "good stuff" anyways, like when I handcuffed her to the bed and had my way with her to celebrate the resurrection of the Lord on Sunday.

Also,

Got zero sleep last night. At the time it seemed like a great reason, but now I'm really regretting it. Also very sore.

If one more person mentions "free speech" in relation to the Ozzie Guillen story I think I am going to blow a fuse.

It was a toss-up which idiot was going to pipe up with that low-hanging fruit: stitches or edina. Now we know.

So untrue, my father learned how to cook in his 50s and my mother also became a better cook in her 50s.

you're not a marsupial. they wanted it. there's always an exception to the rule.
