I agree with Fritzl. I do think Parker looks better, but there is nothing ingenious about his fit. It just looks better, also; I think it may have been ever better with dark 'sneakers'

thanks & +1

Seems like people don't understand what the point of stacking is. It's not some sort cool streetwear in-crowd thing and it's not "pooling" like everyone says. Yes, it looks sloppy when pants with a large leg opening have an inseam that is too long. That's why people hem or cuff their straight or slim straight jeans.
With tapered or slim jeans, however, a generous amount of stacking can add visual heft to the ankle area. Imagine how ridiculous wearing a pair of flannel trousers would look If they were tapered down to the width of your ankles. That is what these slim jeans would look like without the stacking. Stacking allows tapered jeans to look like a straight cut while remaining slim.
Stacking is often claimed to be part of the SWD "anti-fit agenda" but it has a greater effect on the fit of jeans than people realize.
TL;DR stacking helps you not look like this guy:

no.

here's an idea, don't wear jeans that are that skinny? I mean is this rocket science. You can have a slim jean that isn't skin tight at the ankle. And then, amazingly, you can have it cut to the top of the shoe with no break, giving you a, tada, clean look. Since when is this hard to figure out?

It fits perfectly and looks awesome.

not really. Looks like any random guy on the street with jeans too long, white sneakers, and a t-shirt.

snoozefest

Possibly. More like 6 years ago. However, in 2000-2005 or so, jeans were worn wider and looser, with a wider hem. Different cuts look better worn differently. It's a truism. When companies like Julian Red, Acne, and Dior carrot fit jeans became popular, so did some degree of stacking. I have narrow hemmed jeans that stack more, and more relaxed jeans (like these RRL "slim fits" that I am wearing now) that I get hemmed only a little longer than my true inseam.
I'd say that the same applied to tailored clothing as well. If you are going to wear a jacket with a very swelled chest, a natural shoulder is probably going to look stupid. Imagine sticking spalla camica on a Huntsman jacket. Oi.

Me in 2005 (in college). Dior Homme 19cm MIJ with a 40" inseam. Still have the shoes, I think I sold the jeans to somebody on here.

Well, I don't know where you live but in my world, no it doesn't. Many TRY to look like this (as also evidenced by the hundreds of casual fit pics posted here) but very few achieve the great fit, proportions and colors (in this case, purely on the white-grey-black spectrum) that is shown here.

It's okay if you can't see it. Most people out there wouldnt see the difference between a vox fit and a Man of Lint fit either

I don't own a single pair of jeans anymore. I am debating having Frank make me a pair. Holland & Sherry selvedge denim, 2" cuffs, duh.

Forward pleats, side adjustors, and a nice, crisp crease?
