what about Boss Black suits at nordstrom? saw a "pasini/movie " suit in charcoal for $795. Forget about the price, I know it's overpriced and they do go on sale, but how is this suit for quality? any canvassing here or fully fused.? paying for the name?
Thanks

Fully canvassed. Extremely well made suits

now thats just mean lol.
If it fits you well and you like it go for it. There are better suits out there for the money or a bit more. My suggestion to you is if you dont need it right away hold off a bit and keep looking around.

So which is it? good quality, canvassed?   anyone ?

I think Hugo Boss' regular line in uncanvased and average or slightly below average quality. Then again this is SF and average here is what most people would think is high end.

Not all of them are. Hugo Boss selection/ Selection Tailored line are fully canvassed. The regular selection might be half.

Davemax, I answered in your other thread but it's important for you not to get too worried with fused/canvassed/super high end right now if you don't have alot of suits and are just starting off. Hugo Boss is NOT total crap and will NOT self destruct no matter how much fusing is present. I have plenty of fused suits that still look good after 10 years of use (within a rotation of course).

You CAN get much better quality than BOSS at full retail for the price but you have to do more searching and there is no guarantee that finding a top grade suit that will fit like you want will be easy to find. For instance Zegna's mid and high end suits (which are respected here) have so much shoulder slope that thay are not an option for me.

I can only recommend however is to try waiting until the Boss comes on sale (50% or more)

I'm willing to throw you a bone, since i actually have a couple of the Boss suits. I have not seen a Boss suit now a days in store that is not a glued canvas job, so that is your answer on that. They are slightly better quality than your average Men's Warehouse stuff (CK, LRL, DK, KC, etc...). Right now, Cladmen.com is having a going out of business sale, you can pick up Boss suits (if they still have your size) for about $208 - 250. At that price, you can't go wrong with a starter suit (code: FEBFAMILY will get you the extra 25% off).

You're welcome, now use the search button next time...

I too own a pre-SF HB suit that I probably paid $1,000 for. On the plus side it in made in the U.S. On the negative side it is utter crap. I think I work it twce in the past 12 months. I could start with all of the things wrong with it from the absolute lack of drape to the machine made "pick stiching". However, the thing that really pothers me the most about it are the crappy shoulders! The few times I have worn it, the jacket comes off ASAP.
